Sisir and Basnata with teary eyes. He tried to compose himself. He doesn't want to be seen as a weak person in front of his children.

He went near Ava and whispered, "yaah. How could you? You promised me that you would be alive for me. How could you do this to me. Now, how will I survive without you. How can you just leave me and expect me to wake up in the morning without looking at this beautiful face? Yaah. Honey. Now wake up huh. It is not the time to joke around. Stop this prank already. Sisir and basnata are still waiting for you. They want their mother's warmth. Please come back...."

He tried to be calm but it was no use. He was saying all these things with a crying and pleading voice by shacking his wife's dead body. Both sisir and basnata could hear that whisper. The king was in shock at this sudden news. Both sisir and basnata were also not moving from their places. both were too shocked to hear the news as well. They both knew that their mother's health has not been well but they were not expecting this to happen. Sisir looked like he was about to cry any moment and the 9-year-old boy had no emotions on his face.

The king didn't know what to do. They both went near the bed and caressed the queen's cheeks. They both saw how their mother was looking so peaceful. She had no worries at her face. She looked like she was free. Sisir soon broke down and said while slapping her cheeks lightly,

"mom. Wake up. You can't just leave without even a goodbye. Please wake up."

The king wiped his tears, patted sisir's back and looked at basnata who still didn't had any emotions on his face. He was just looking at his mother's face.

Her lips were dry and blue in color. Soon, the king sent them both away after an hour or two and cried again. A few days had passed since the queen's funeral. Everyone were still in shock cause they all thought that the queen would have been cured from her depression. The state of the people inside the castle was not good as well.

The king and Sisir were not saying anything after that night. They looked numb and speechless. Although, the guards heard both of them crying in their rooms for night. Their stained face in the morning says it all as well. Basanta knew about his mother's death as well. He wasn't dumb. He knew what was happening around his surroundings very well. But, he pretended that he knew nothing and stayed quiet. None of the people wanted to tell him that his mother had died and left him alone in this world with his father and brother.

(A/N: although, Basanta is 9 years old. He still is a fluff ball or more like a baby who needs to be protected but don't be fooled by his cute face. He isn't dumb. And Sisir is mostly the mature one. And in this story, Sisir is the more dominant character and Basanta is more fragile.)

SISIR'S POV

It has been days since mom died. Dad and I are trying to hold ourselves. But I am afraid for Basanta. He has neither reacted nor said something. This morning father asked me to go and talk to him. I agreed. Now, I am standing in front of his room. I knocked on the door. After few seconds, I hear a small "come in", I went inside and saw my brother looking outside the window. I went near him and sat in a stool that was placed near the window. We both didn't say anything. There was a pin drop silence in the room. I wanted to tell him something. I want to comfort him. But I don't know how. After a while later, I finally got the courage and asked Basanta,

"brother, what happened. Why are you not saying anything?"

Basanta sighed and said, "nothing brother, I am just missing mom. Never imagined that she will leave us alone like this without even saying a proper goodbye."

I saw that he had little tears in his eyes. I chuckled sadly. I turn him around as Basanta was facing the window a while ago. He took him in his arm. Basanta hugged me tightly. I also hugged Basanta tightly and said, "let it out basu. Let it out. We all know how much you are trying to hold back."

That was enough for Basanta to break down crying. He was holding his tears for a long time as he wants to appear strong but he couldn't.

(A/N : Basanta's nickname is basu. So bear with it.)

I as well had tears in his eyes. I couldn't see him like this. It breaks my heart. I gently stroked Basanta's hair to calm him down. After a few minutes later, I could hear cute snores instead of loud cries. I looked down and saw an adorable sight. Basanta was sleeping with a pout and teared face in my chest. I carefully put him in his bed and wiped the tears that were still flowing from Basanta's face although he was sleeping. I smiled sadly looking at my baby brother. I gently kissed his forehead and stroked his hair for a few minutes.

I said in a low voice, "Don't worry brother. I promised mom that I will always protect you and I will keep this promise even if I have to sacrifice myself."

Saying that I left the room after locking it. When I was outside, I saw my father in front of me. I bowed a little to show respect.

Then dad said, "is he okay now." I nodded. Dad sighed and went to his room. I looked at his room for the last time and also went to my room.

END OF SISR'S POV

Days and months passed after the queen's funeral. And everything was good or was it? No, it wasn't. Everyone knew it very well. The king was slowly and slowly showing the sighs of depression as the late queen. Sisir who was now 14 years old was now worried for his father. He tried everything to cheer him up. But, he failed miserably. He feared that he will lose him as well. One day, he had enough. So he went to his room. he saw his father lying on the bed like an emotionless creature. He became angry. His dad was still the same although one year had passed after his mother's death.

(A/N: let me tell you. Sisir has anger issues which are highly dangerous. So I advise everyone not to mess with him nor his family.)

"Dad "he shouted in a high voice. The king flinched a little. He looked up to see his son who had an angry expression on his face. The king gulped. Everyone knew that Sisir was a polite and well-mannered kid but don't ever make him angry. It means that you are digging your own grave. The king came to his senses and replied with a shaking voice, "yes. What happened. You look angry." He tried to sound calm. Sisir took a deep breath to calm his anger. He glared at his father. He again took a deep breath.

He went near him and sat at the edge of the bed and said in a calm voice.

"ask yourself. What happened. Look at yourself dad. You looked like a mess."

He paused for a while and again said, "dad. Please don't let yourself drown in this mess. I can't lose you too. You are showing the sighs of depression just like mom. Don't be a coward dad. You should accept the truth that mom is no more with us. She is gone dad. She is gone. Even Basanta has accepted this bitter truth. So why can't you. I know it is very hard to accept that the love of your life is no more with you. But this is the reality. Face it."

Sisir got up and went towards the door. Before leaving he turned around and said, "I hope you understand. I apologize for my rude behavior which I showed earlier. Now I shall leave."

He bowed to the king and left. All this time, the king was stunned to utter even a word. He was speechless. The words of Sisir was roaming in his head continuously. He finally realized that despite whatever he does, his wife will never return again. He decided that he will change and will not do the same mistake his wife did. He decided that he would host a ball which will be celebrated in Basanta's birthday and which was next week. He slept after that.
