Zelda sat by the window, watching the rain in the dark. She hadn't found a way to make the white fire come back to life. The room was dimly lit by the rising sun, the ocean reflecting the light. As she watched the clouds shift and churn, her mind ran a mile a minute thinking of Link. She had to get out of that room, and she had to poke around the building by herself. She have to check multiple levels - her room was lifted high above the ocean, so there had to be more layers beneath her. After she found Link, they would find Terrako and return to Hyrule.
It was much to simple to actually happen. Zelda hugged her knees to her chest, silently crying into them. She didn't know how long she sat there, but it must have been hours. The sun was high in the sky when the door opened.
Zelda let go of her knees, wiping the tears from her face. The fire clicked on, and Mr. Poe walked in with a food cart.
"I see you've cleaned up," he noted.
"I only washed the mud off," Zelda corrected. "There was no soap." She didn't know why she felt the urge to be so stubborn, but she didn't want to conform to Mr. Poe's wishes.
He stopped next to her. "There should have been." He handed her the single plate on the cart and set a glass of milk on the table.
"There were bottles, but I couldn't read them."
"You can't read English, yet you speak it fluently." Mr. Poe sounded confused.
"We're speaking Hyrulien," Zelda said, also confused.
"Interesting," Mr. Poe mumbled. "I can tell you what each of them are for, later today. After the surprise." He smiled wickedly.
"And what would that be?"
"It wouldn't be much of a surprise if I told you what it was," he chastised. "I'll be back later to bring you to it." With that, Mr. Poe swept out the door before Zelda could say anything else.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The plate sat empty on the table along with the glass. Zelda sat by the window again, wanting to escape more than ever. She had pulled the blinds away from the window, studying the frame for a lock. There was none that she could see.
She tried pushing the window out on one side, thinking it was simular to the ones in Hyrule. When that didn't work, she tried pulling the bottom half up. It didn't slide open. She grappled with the window for some time, growing more afraid of the "surprise" Mr. Poe had in store for her. She was certain it wasn't Terrako. Even the droplets of rain on the window mocked her, sliding down the glass in whatever path they wished.
"What are you doing?" Mr. Poe asked in her ear, making her jump. Zelda hadn't heard him come in.
"Trying to open the window," Zelda huffed.
"It's raining."
"Not any more," Zelda retorted. "I wanted fresh air."
"It's time for your surprise, love," he said, using that word again.
Zelda didn't say anything more. She could handle whatever Mr. Poe's surprise was. She had her power to protect her. Should would be brave and strong like Link. Link, who was not with her at that moment.
Mr. Poe offered his arm, but Zelda just stared at it. He dropped it, heading for the door. Zelda followed Mr. Poe out the door that only opened for him. He led her down a hallway, up a flight of stairs hidden behind a door, and around a corner. The halls turned into a huge, open room. Cubes made of windows were placed all around.
Stopping at the first cube, Mr. Poe opened the door. Zelda saw through the wall of windows that a boy was laying on a table. She quickened her pace.
Zelda practically ran through the door, only partially aware of it closing behind her, and the mirrors replacing the windows.
"Link!" She squealed.
