Zelda stood with an arm around Link. He gently pressed a hand to her back, looking a little nervous from the contact in front of so many people.
They were back in Hyrule. Terrako had made one huge portal and everyone shoved through. Now, the thousands of people were spread across Hyrule Field. Many were standing in a line, waiting for their turn to go home. They had to describe where they needed to go to Terrako, and then he would make a portal for them. A lot of people needed medical attention, and therefore were sitting on mats spread out by the doctors, being examined and tended to. Everyone asked to get the chips removed from their necks, and were finding their things from the objects spread out in the grass.
Link and Zelda stood by Terrako, watching as people went home. All thanked the heroes between realms for saving them. The two just nodded. Saying "you're welcome" to such things seemed rude.
The mind controller was next in line. She was fiddling with the wires at the end of her arm, where her hand should be. Purah was standing next to her, spitting out question after question, writing the girl's answers down in a notebook.
"You'll come back, right?" Purah chirped.
"Uhh. . . Science has done enough to me. Sorry." The girl didn't sound sorry at all.
"Oh," Purah pouted.
Zelda stole one more look at the metal making up the girl's wrist. Seeing that reminded her of the hand Terrako probably still had.
"Terrako," Zelda said gently. "She needs her hand back."
Terrako let out a disappointed whistle, then took the metal hand from inside his body. He held it up to the girl.
"Oh, hey, thanks." The girl took her hand back, then began describing the place she needed to go. Terrako gave a sad whistle, then made the portal.
"Cinder?" a voice asked from the other side.
"Kai!" the girl cried as she ran through.
"Why is your hand. . ?"
Terrako closed the portal, blocking off any more of the voices.
Zelda smiled down at the little machine, giving Link a squeeze as she did so. She couldn't imagine going through all that she did without him, like so many of the people here have been through torture without their loved ones.
Zelda pulled Link around the field, greeting people and seeing how they were doing. Multiple times, they came across someone who looked just like Link, except clothed in green. They marveled at each other, astonished that they were like doubles. . . .or, rather, quintuples. Each version had a companion.
One pair looked like children. This version of Link had a magical baton and his companion was a pirate named Tetra. The version who could turn into a wolf was kneeling beside a mat, checking on a woman named Midna who had a bloody bandage wrapped around her torso. The third version had a magical Ocarina, and his companion was another version of Zelda in disguise. She called herslef Sheik, and the Link-Copy was oblivious to the girls' similarities. The final version was also holding hands with another Zelda-Copy. They turned to face Link and Zelda.
Link-Copy looked longingly at the Master Sword still strapped to Link's back. "Can you hear her?"
Link's eyebrows rose. "Yes," he answered quietly.
Link-Copy smiled. "Good. Tell Fi I miss her. She was a good friend."
In response, the Master Sword glowed in its scabbard. Link slowly took it out, and it glowed brighter.
