Zelda hid behind a tree, eyeing Poe. It amazed her that he got passed all the guardians swarming the castle. He was only safe now because Terrako was taking care of the nearby ones.
She spotted Epona across the field, past Poe, and in the opposite direction of Kakariko Village. She had been forgotten after the great battle with Ganon, but would come to great use soon.

Taking a steadying breath, Zelda darted out from behind the tree, sprinting for Epona. She didn't yell, didn't do anything to try to attract attention. Poe was a smart man. He would know if Zelda wanted him to see.

Zelda mounted the horse, snapping the rains. She led Epona to the edge of the woods, working around the trees. When she was close enough to Poe for him to hear, she pulled the rains up. Epona skidded to a stop with a loud neigh. Zelda felt Poe's evil green eyes on her, but she didn't look. She snapped the rains again, and Epona obediently raced through Hyrule Field. Soon, Terrako was running beside her.

Zelda focused her sight on Hylia River, to the east. When she reached it, she rode along the water, coming closer to Rebonae Bridge.

"Terrako," Zelda said, "when I jump off, lead Epona to the Wetland Stable."

    Terrako whooped in acknowledgement.

Zelda glanced once over her shoulder, making sure Poe was following her. He was.

She turned Epona to the right, yards from Rebonae Brindge. She eyed the few ruins to the left, took a shaky breath, and leaped off Epona. Zelda tucked her head down and fell to her side. Her skin stung with shallow scrapes and cuts.

Zelda quickly got to her feet, darting behind the crumbling wall. She watched as Epona was lead away by Terrako, then as Poe sprinted across the bridge. His feet were fast under all that bulk.

When Poe was well away, Zelda left her hiding place. Now for the difficult part. She made her way across the bridge, then ran south to the Wetland Stable. She sprinted behind the horse-shaped building, ignoring the people calling out to her. Zelda spotted Epona not to far away with Poe standing right next her her, trying to catch Terrako. Zelda darted passed him, mounted Epona, grabbed Terrako, and rode farther south.

Zelda caught her breath for the few minutes she had on the horse, then did the same trick. Terrako took Epona to the Riverside Stable while Zelda cut through the path next to Batrea Lake. She was halfway through the small wooded area when she could hear Poe behind her. She pumped her legs harder. Poe wouldn't fall for the same trick twice.

The princess made her way over Owlan Bridge. To her right, she saw Terrako and Epona. Where the roads converged, Zelda jumped onto the saddle, leaving Poe behind.

This happened all day. Zelda lead Poe across Central Hyrule, hoping he wouldn't see the paths he took or which direction lead him where. When the sun was leaning more to the west, Zelda crossed through the Dueling Peaks, into the Necluda region. Zelda turned north, following the path to Kakariko Village.

She checked once to make sure Poe was still following. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him riding a horse he must have stolen. Zelda snapped the reins, and soon, they were making their way around the cliffs and mountains, inching closer to Kakriko.

Zelda smiled as she passed the first arch signaling the village. She forced Epona to gallop under the next one and down to the center of Kakariko. The only person she saw out was Impa standing in the middle of the clearing.

"What are you doing?" Zelda hissed as she raced by.

"I'm still good with a blade," Impa told her.

Zelda's head pounded with fear and adrenaline as she continued to Sahasra Slope. She stopped Epona, then ran back into Kakariko, hoping Impa knew what she was doing.
