"So, your birthday is coming soon, how are you feeling?" Andrew asked, his focus still on the thick sorcery book he had in his hands.

He was lying on his stomach, flipping through each page he was done with.

"I don't know, this birthday is becoming more of a pain in the ass than intended," Pran answered. Thinking about how everyone except for him was excited, he continued, "My mother is over the moon, my dad can't wait for me to become a man. A man? what does that even mean?" he groaned in frustration.

Andrew chuckled, "they are just excited that their son will now meet his mate"

Among the wolves, from ancient times, sooner or later, wolves were destined to meet their mates. The one goddess Luna had made for them. Their counterpart, someone they would gladly give their whole lives to.

The common age for meeting one's mate was when they turned eighteen. The mate was detected through a strong scent that turned sweet like honey.

In an instinct one was ought to follow that scent leading to their other half.

The riled up and claw slashing the inner wolf did within a person, with the need and want to shift in order to go find their mate was also another detection.

With the mate, came a soulmate mark that appeared as a symbol of showing that indeed he was your soulmate.

"At this rate, I don't even know if I want to meet them"

Meeting your mate was supposed to be one of the most amazing experiences wolves got to witness but for Pran it wasn't the case.

The more his parents talked and made a big deal about it, the more Pran felt less and less excited.

"Arghh, I wish I could meet my mate, to know who they were instead of going out there and falling in love, get your heart broken, give yourself time to heal and then the circle begins once again"

Andrew was a witch. A descendant of the BlackForest witch covenant. He was both Pran and Wai's friend.

Just like Pran had the ability to shift into a wolf, Andrew had his magic wand and performed spells. He was pretty powerful for an eighteen year old.

He was only a few months older than Pran and more mature than him. Andrew, although fierce and hard headed, was kind and smart.

Pran didn't respond at Andrews' whining but instead focused on the laptop in front of him.

"Shit" Andrew cursed out, abruptly getting out of the bed and rushing all over Pran's room looking for his shoes, "I have to meet up with Pat for rugby practice at the town's sports yard" he said, "See you later" Andrew had shouted already out of Pran's bedroom door before he could say anything.

Andrew being a witch could befriend any of the species he liked. So it was of no surprise that he was friends with Pat, the vampire boy.

He often heard of the way Andrew talked about Pat that Pran found their whole friendship wholesome.

The mischievous things they would get to do, the jokes and pranks the two made. He knew that Pat was a good guy all because of how Andrew held him and their friendship in high regards.

To say, Pran wasn't envious and a little bit jealous of their friendship would be a lie.

But because he was a werewolf and Pat a vampire within a long line of blood shed, he could never hang out with them, not if he wanted to cause a war between the two species.

He had learned to like Pat just from how Andrew talked about him when it came to their daily get togethers.

Now with Andrew gone, he felt alone. He got off his desk and threw himself on his bed. He was bored but had assignments which needed to be done.
