They strolled down the witches gated community with the representative from the witches pointing and explaining things Pat's mind didn't hear.He could see her lips move up and down, flashing a smile there and there but his mind wasn't here.
He glanced beside him and found Pran looking and listening rather attentively to her.
Pat had to admit, Pran was a mystery to him, especially in the way he behaved, thought and did things. It wasn't normal for a werewolf.
From all the werewolves he had come across, Pat had never met someone as selfless and yet blind - if he had to say - like Pran.
He was so kind that he would even allow his enemies inside his house. From what he knew, werewolves were also supposed to be vicious beings, they were supposed to be ruthless like vampires were.
The werewolves he knew and met were like that, they despised almost everything, especially vampires, but here was Pran married to one.
Pran has never even once showed any hatred, anger or said anything hurtful towards him.
And when he got hurt over fighting with those vampires, Pran had gotten angry on his behalf. He had been the one adamant on punishing those who hurt him.
He had been kind, even before they married each other.
Pat couldn't help wondering how Pran was like this? Why wasn't he as bad as other wolves?
He was even friends with Wai, a person whom Pat knew to hold hatred for vampires.
A guy he had fought with countless times in school and around the town. But every time Pran had been the one to put a stop to Wai or their fight.
As he continued looking over at him, his mind trailed back to the events of 4 days ago.
He still could not get over the shock - in the midst of his pains - that came over him the day he arrived and found Aran in their apartment playing what seemed like video games.
He had seen him washed up, clean and wearing new clothes.
"What's the meaning of this?" Pat saw Pran hesitate for a moment, as if he knew what he had done was unacceptable.
"I brought him home"
"I can see that but my question is why?"
Pran glanced back at Aran who was very much invested in the game controller in his hand. Pran signallied for Pat to follow him as he navigated towards their bedroom.
"I figured if I can make him comfortable he can learn to trust me"
"And how's that coming along?"
"I just need time"
As much as he wanted to put faith and trust in whatever plan Pran had up his sleeves, Pat couldn't allow himself to make a mistake and let his guard down.
"He's not staying here"
"What? No! Pat listen -"
"No I'm not going to. For all I know he could be spying, gathering information about everything. I don't trust him"
"Well I need you to trust me" He stated.
Pat halted and eyed Pran as he eyed him back. A sudden wave of awkwardness arose between the two.
Pat bit back the insides of his mouth, as he listened as Pran tried to explain further,
"You don't trust him. Fine. It's okay. But can you please just let me do what I can do to get to the bottom of this whole situation"
