04.

The minute the school bell rang, Pran was already by the entrance door. He was glad he made it in time despite not wanting to get out of bed.

He was tired and didn't want to see anybody nor was he in the mood to receive deadly stares from people.

And he had been right, the minute he stepped out of the house and began his walk to school, people had already begun looking at him, whispering to each other.

They ensured to make it evident to him that they were talking about him. He felt exposed and he didn't like it.

It's not like he chose the circumstances he was in, they chose him.

And the wolf community, although happy that one of their own was going to rule over BlackForest, the problem was his mate.

They abhorred the thought of a wolf together with a vampire.

As he walked through the hallway, students began to make way for him, he didn't ask to be let through, they just did.

Honestly there was no need for this, it was way too soon for them to start behaving like this.

The accession day hadn't even arrived yet. He hated the attention he was getting. He preferred things to be the way they were. They were still just kids in their teens crying out loud.

He met up with Wai in the middle of the hallway.

He hadn't spoken to him about this whole thing ever since the reveal but he did however hear from his parents that he had come by everyday just to sit with him.

Wai despised vampires. Sometimes the amount of hatred he harboured for them was unhealthy but he had his reasons.

When he was young, his entire family had been killed by vampires.

Soon after, they had been found and killed immediately as an order from the high council.

He had been the last remaining survivor of his family before his uncle and aunt took him in. The pain of loss has been with him ever since.

He had been left alone to bear the burden of being a sole survivor of a massacre.

Wai didn't feel as lucky as people often told him, he didn't feel special, all he felt was loss. Utter loss. He missed his family, his mother's cooking, his father teaching him how to fix a car, and his sister's smile.

He missed them all and he had only memories left of them.

So Pran understood his hatred. If his family died in the same mannerism as his did, he would act out the same way Wai did. It was just that people failed to understand him because they weren't in his shoes.

"Hey" Pran greeted him first, almost hesitating.

Sometimes it was hard to guess Wai's state of mind even for him and he has been friends with him for the longest time.

Wai was like Pat in a way, they all had a short fuse.

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

"Much better than I did when I woke up", Wai nodded at that, "You wanna walk to class? The stares are getting to me" He said, glancing sideways.

It's how they didn't even try to hide the fact that they were looking over at him and they didn't care if they made him uncomfortable.

"Must be hard for you knowing you are about to live the rest of your life with that blood sucker" Pran tried to not let the word get to him, his wolf was clashing at him like crazy
