A/N: I don't own Smallville or any characters and places in the DC universe. Nor do I own the episodes that these chapters are based on and contained from.
I also don't claim to be a writer. My inspiration is simply to get a creative outlet going.
I only own Tyla Nevin and what pertains to her character story.

There was one week left of the campaign and Lex was close to the finish line. However, there was one issue that gnawed at the back of his mind. He threw down the Smallville Ledger at his desk in front of Tyla. The words "STATE SENATE CANDIDATES NECK AND NECK" flashed across her eyes. She sighed and folded one hand over the other to hide the expression that tweaked from her mouth. They were supposed to discuss the photographers and videographers at their wedding as well the security measures that needed to be placed for the paparazzi.
"Not exactly the kind of headline I was hoping for!" Lex yelled at his campaign manager. "Do you know what would have been a better story before the election?" He snapped his fingers twice at Tyla to think up a hypothetical.
Tyla raised her eyebrows at him. Like I'm a dog waiting to be summoned. She thought. She knew that this was his work mode. It had nothing to do with her but every so often, she'd like to remind him who he was business partners with.
Lex paused a beat and then extended his hand as an offering instead. He changed his demeanor but still wanted an answer. He wanted to make his manager look stupid and feel replaceable. "Humor me?" He asked, politely.
""State senate candidates luncheon; game, set, match."" Tyla mumbled as she used her pen and pushed the paper to the side. "I would have stressed that it was Lex would throw the lunch in good faith."
Lex sighed, wishing that she was the campaign manager instead. It was a "game well played" strategy, something that even if the polls favored Jonathan, he at least showed the family that he wasn't being malicious in action.
"Nobody is that squeaky-clean," his manager started to say. "We'll find something to use against him."
With that, Tyla looked at Lex. She expected that politics would muddy the opponent's name but she didn't want to know about it. She was still friends with them, even after all of this was over. Lex approached her, moving around the desk to put an arm around her. He wasn't going to dig. He tried that tactic. He liked the humble route that she indirectly suggested. "You've obviously never met Jonathan Kent."
The three of them didn't notice the door from the hallway open. Then, two officers came in to meet them. "Mr. Luthor, Miss Nevin, we need to get you out of here," a loud booming male voice struck Tyla's attention.
"What's going on?" Lex asked, giving them a questionable look. He presented his hand to Tyla as she slowly got up.
"There's been a bomb threat, we need to evacuate the mansion," a woman, a little shorter than Tyla but much huskier, stepped forward. Her eyes gleaned over to Tyla.
"A bomb?" The campaign manager looked towards the couple but Tyla was just as skeptical as her fiancé.
"Security didn't alert me of this. Or Lex."
The billionaire's brow furrowed and he reached over to pick up the landline phone. The chief of security would have to answer for this. He picked up the receiver and turned his back from them. The two cops looked over at each other and then started to raise their guns at them. From the corner of Lex's eye, he saw Tyla's hands shoot up.
"Oh! Okay! Um.."
The campaign manager followed suit. "Lex?"
Lex turned and curled his arm around Tyla, moving her behind him.
