A/N: I don't own Smallville or any characters and places in the DC universe. Nor do I own the episodes that these chapters are based on and contained.
I also don't claim to be a writer. My inspiration is simply to get a creative outlet going.
I only own Tyla Nevin and what pertains to her character story.

Tyla had canceled the wedding all together. It was but a month of silence and pure bliss before the entire world knew that she was now a Luthor. Then, the press went wild, followed by a string of congratulations from friends. What both she and Lex agreed was to not cancel the reception or the honeymoon. 6 months from now was a good enough timeline to sort out Fine, her powers, and the mess that came in that wake.
His wife had gone to National City for the weekend. Her friends insisted on a bachelorette party regardless of the elopement. But the weekend bore him loneliness, something he didn't expect to have now that she was truly by his side. The next couple of nights didn't favor him. Lana was caught up in a whirlwind of emotions, with unsavory friends, put herself in danger, and stole from him. It was enough to exhaust him but the added events caused him to die. That threw him off. Even so, he was whisked off to the hospital. Upon waking up, the paramedics immediately called Tyla. From the sound of her voice on the phone, she was taking the jet 12 hours earlier.
So now he played on the piano, in the comfort of his home, waiting for his beloved. He barely heard Tyla come in when he drummed his fingers along, remembering a song from Schubert. He was focused on the piano keys and the crackling fire.
"That's beautiful, Lex," She complimented, luring him from his deep thoughts.
He gave her a surprised looked that he instantly stopped playing. "I-uh...yeah, it's my favorite," he said, closed the piano lid on the keys. He got up and slowly walked over to her. "Just the woman I wanted to see." He greeted her with a small kiss.
"How are you doing?" She asked him. "You're looking a little...shaken." She lifted up her hand to place it on his cheek, seeing the superficial circular wound there.
"I'm all right," he replied softly, leaning into her touch. "I have to admit crossing over was a very enlightening experience." He moved away and looked to the fire.
"What did you see?"
"My mother."
Tyla's voice was even. Filled with calm. It was the opposite of what Lex was feeling inside. "What did she say to you?"
"She said that..." He gulped. "She's very proud of the man I'm becoming."
She let out a small laugh and walked over to him. She held her husband's hand, tracing her finger along his wedding band. "What did she really say, Lex?" She looked at his eyes. From what she knew of his parents, pride was very specific with them.
Lex looked over to her and smiled. But it was a sad smile. "She said that the life I wanted, I won't be able to get. My destiny is doomed apparently. My path is pain and death." He looked down at his hand intertwined with hers. "I wanted this life; it was my choice."
"You told me yourself that you're veering away from it." The look on Lex's face told her that he was about to justify himself again. "I mean, you're making choices. That's something a mother would be proud of."
"But it was her, Tyla. I know it. I felt it."
"You were 13 when she died, right? Not to speak ill of the death but your parents left quite a mess . I-I wouldn't put it past death to give them something unresolved?" She wasn't sure how Lex was going to take it.
Instead, he mulled over it. He wasn't a fan of psychology, especially when it was mixed with the supernatural. "Interesting theory," was all that he said.
"Well.... I know that if we worry too much into the future, it will drive us mad," She added. "But we can look into our future, together. Did you factor that into your life? The one you wanted?"
"I didn't think so much about the together part.... more about having it," Lex admitted, sheepishly. It was a selfish thought, he realized.
"Well, that's already changing because this, us, getting married. That's being together. Like a partnership. So, the life you wanted is different than what it's happening now but it's not going to end up in doom-and-gloom if we let it right. And I won't let that happen." She gave him a reassuring smile.
Which helped him. It truly did. He felt a weight lift off him, but he worried about the people that he was apparently going to kill. The image of it alone, his mother asking him to kill himself. Those were things that would take days for him to shake off.
