Waking up the next morning, you turned over in bed. Expecting an empty space next to you which had been the usual since you came here. But this time was different when your hand collided with Paul's chest.
He groaned at the contact as he opened his eyes slowly.
"Good morning to you too," he said, sleep still heavy in his voice making it husky.. He caught your hand before you could take it away and kissed your knuckles.
"Sorry, wasn't expecting you,"
"You weren't expecting me? In bed? Our bed?" he questioned as a smile spread across his face as you rolled your eyes while you smiled at him.
"You know what I mean. You usually are out of bed and in meetings by the time I wake up,"
"Usually, but today isn't usual. I made sure to pass along the message to Eric earlier this morning when I woke up to push everything until later. Because I wanted to sleep in with you and have breakfast with you," he replied as you felt as if your heart skipped a beat at him wanting to spend more time with you.
"Wait, you got up earlier and told Eric about pushing things back?"
"Yes, when I usually wake up. Still on that same routine and everything so I thought I would tell him since he is one of my advisors. But I also wanted to talk to you about something which is why I pushed my meeting. About coming into those advisory meetings with me. Give them your perspective, like you said last night," Paul said as you felt your chest tighten at the thought of being apart of those meetings.
"Well, I did mention that but that was just something that I was throwing around in the moment, you know. Not something that I thought you would follow through with,"
"Why is that? I thought it was a really good idea. Getting a new perspective in the room, since they all are from the stone-age right? And they were the ones that planned that gathering without telling me at the last minute. It'll do me good to have someone else in the room besides Eric that is on my side for once,"
"Yes, but-"
"Please, just sit in this one meeting. If you don't like it then I wont ask you about going to any others. I know that you want more purpose than what you have in this court right now. Which makes sense, you are new. But I know that you don't want to just look pretty and sit next to me and be a figurehead," he said, as you nodded knowing that that was what you wanted. You didn't want to spend your free time just dancing, or listening to music or sitting while other people make big decisions.
"You have a point. I've never been one to sit and not participate. Plus I'm used to being busy. Alright, I'll go to this advisory meeting to see how I feel about it. And I do think it would be important for me to attend those so I can get more insight to what is happening at all times," you said with a nod, making Paul smile as he got out of bed.
"Alright, I'll pass along the message to Eric to gather everyone together. You get ready," he said as he went to throw on some pants and a shirt.
"But before that–"
"Yes, breakfast, I almost forgot. But yes, breakfast first and then I'll talk to Eric," He said as he leaned over and kissed you before leaving the room as you settled further into the covers.

You had breakfast in a smaller dining quarter that was meant for just you and Paul. As you sat at the small table across from him eating your eggs as he sipped on coffee.
There was a knock on the door as Paul put down his coffee cup and shouted "come in" just as Eric opened the door and popped his head in.
"Just wanted to let you know they are waiting, impatiently," he said as he looked from Paul to you and smiled at you.
