Traveling by carriage was never something you thought you would ever get to experience. you had always imagined it to be awful, cramped and dirty.
But as you settled into the plush seats of the carriage, you realized your assumptions were completely wrong. The seats were comfortable and the interior of the carriage was clean and well-maintained.
You looked out the window as the carriage made its way through the city streets, taking note of the people going about their daily lives. Some of them stopped to stare as the carriage went by, their eyes lingering on the carriage and the cart following behind as well as the soldiers at the front of the carriage and behind the cart.
You turned to Paul who was sitting beside you, looking outside his window.
"Where are we going?"
Paul smiled at you, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "a little place that I know about," he replied mysteriously.
You rolled your eyes, but couldn't help the smile that spread across your face. the thought of running away with Paul, even if it was for a few days, filled you with a sense of adventure and freedom that you hadn't felt in a long time.
"despite knowing you aren't going to budge on the location, I'm kind of glad that we went about this wedding this way. It'll make it special for us, having two weddings,"
"and the fact that Eric was able to inform James. I don't think he would've let us leave the palace if he found out any later," Paul said with a laugh.
"yeah i think then him dressing you in something absolutely ridiculous might, just might be called for,"you replied imagining Paul wearing something frilly like you had seen in history books of French rulers from centuries ago. Which made it all the funnier with the fact that he would have worn that style of dress being the ruler of hell even back then.
you covered your mouth in an attempt to try and stifle the laugh that escaped.
"what?" he asked, turning away from the window and smiling at you.
"Oh, just picturing you dressed like a frenchman. All frilly and pink and I can't think that there could be anything funnier than that knowing how you dress down all black on black with your suits,"
"oh well i think you did it just now, I think I just might have to rethink this whole marriage thing if you can't possibly think that me dressing like a frenchman is hilarious beyond belief," he said with a shake of his head.
you smiled back at him and rested your head on his shoulder, as you peered out the window and spotted only lush green fields that you were traveling through.
"Ok well regardless of the future nuptials status, I would think it would be nice if you let me go to sleep on your shoulder for a bit," you mumbled as you felt him move his arm to the side so you could sleep in his lap. as you felt the feeling of his fingers trailing up and down your arm, making you relax further until you finally closed your eyes.

You awoke to the carriage stopping abruptly as you shot up from your sleeping position which had changed during the journey. You found that Paul had moved to lay along the velvet cushions of the seats with you laying on top of him.
"Enjoy your nap?" he asked as you looked up at him in surprise.
"I'm just surprised I didn't wake up with my moving, must've been more exhausted then I thought I was," you muttered as you got up to move to the other side of the carriage when you got a look outside to see where you had stopped at.
"We've reached our destination," one of the men said outside as they tapped on the doors before opening it.
A step stool was placed outside for you to step on as you got out first, with Paul shortly following.
