Going back to the palace, once you reached the grounds an attendant was there to take the horse. You unceremoniously got off the horse and walked away, feeling the anger building up in you since Paul put you up on that horse.
"We need to talk," you heard his voice say behind you, as you felt a gust of wind behind you and saw that he was immediately in front of you. You looked up and noticed that the shadows that seemed to have been around him at the market were absent. And his eyes were their normal brown color again. Making you feel more at ease. But the anger was still there as you pushed past him.
"Maybe later, I need time. Space."
"Funny how you would want that. Because right now I'm not going to be giving that to you," he said from behind you as he walked behind you a few paces back.
"Just because you think you can force a conversation because of who you are. It doesn't mean that it's going to happen," you replied as you opened a door, you mind going to the library as you tried to walk through the labyrinth that was this monstrosity of a building.
You ground your teeth as you turned around, watching as Paul stopped short of running into you.
"Where is the library? I have no idea where I'm going still," you admitted as you saw a smile tug at his lips as he sidestepped you and you followed him.
"I'll be sure to tell the staff they need to put up a sign. Or how about one of those maps outside?" he joked, as he glanced at you from behind his shoulder. Making you roll your eyes at his questioning. But you were surprised that he was in a joking mood since he still wanted to talk to you. You didn't think you would ever get used to the swing in emotions that he seemed to have.
After a couple turns, he opened up the door that led to the library as he moved to the side to let you in first. You immediately went to one of the plush chairs that you sat down on, the tension in your body leaving once you were no longer standing.
Paul walked up, pulling up an ottoman, positioning it directly in front of you. As he went to sit on it and grabbed your feet, and unlaced the boots that you had been wearing. And then started rubbing your feet.
Which again threw you off.
"And here I thought I was going to get yelled at," you said as you leaned further back into the chair.
"Oh, I wasn't going to yell at you. More of a stern talking to because I don't know if I couldn't handle my emotions if I went any further than that right about now. Just because I don't look angry doesn't mean I don't feel it. Do you know how it felt to find out that you were no longer on palace grounds when I came to find you earlier? How panicked I felt? I thought something happened to you. I compelled the guards outside our room because I had a feeling they were hiding something. That's how I found out about your little trip into the town," he said as you felt his hands rubbing traveling up from your foot to your ankle.
You didn't realize how he would have found out, but hearing it work out that way. You didn't blame him for reacting as he did. You probably would've too if you discovered he was nowhere to be seen.
"I'm sorry, I honestly thought that at some point Eric was going to tell you or Maria," you said as you looked down and saw that he wasn't looking at you at all but down at the ground instead.
"Yes, well neither of them did. I think they didn't want to anger you in doing so," he said as you narrowed your eyes.
"Wait, because of what? This position that I'm going to eventually hold? You're the King of Hell now. I would think not wanting to piss you off would be more important," You said, shaking your head at the audacity of that statement that came out of your mouth. Or at least it would have been before everything happened. Before you were teleported here.
