You Only Live Once

Chapter 1

I pick up my books and stand up, leaving the classroom.

Classes started this week.Today is wednesday and I'm already looking forward for the next School Break.

I cross the campus, which is crowded with people leaving their own classes in the 5 o'clock frenesin. College is something different for sure, no one judges you or tells what and what not to do. The professors are either stuck-up and snobs, or completely crazy, in a very good way.

I look around searching for my friends.

I find them seating in the grass, next to the big Statue in the middle of the campus.

"Hi, guys!" I say seating beside Annie, who is taking notes her notebook, while cautiously studying her book. Annie is both my roommate and closest friend in campus. She is also the genie in our small group of friends, which consists in me, Annie, a rebellious girl with dark hair named Johanna (a.k.a. Jo), a handsome tall boy named Gale, a dark haired boy (whose name I keep forgetting) a girl full of spunk named Clove and a blonde cliché popular girl named Glimmer. Although Glimmer is all of These things she is actually a great person. Finnick is also an "honourarie" member in the squad, as he likes to call it.

"Hey, Katniss!" Annie says sweetly.

"Hey, Brainless!" Johanna greets. I don't know where this nickname came from. Probably because I'm sharing my bedroom with the smartest girl in campus, which makes me look dumb compared to her.

"Hey, where's Finnick?" Clove suddenley asks.

"He went to pick up a friend who called him or something." Annie says.

"Again?" Gale asks raising an eyebrow.

Annie nods. "I bet he's all trouble." Johanna pipes up.

"No, he's a sweet guy. I know him since little. We were neighbours a few years back." Annie adds.

Just as Annie finishes saying this Finnick appears behind her and pecks her cheek making her giggle and blush. Finnick and Annie are a couple and have been since they were 14.

"Hey Finn." She says.

"So where is your famous friend?" The guy whose name I can't recall asks.

"I see you love talking about me Finn." A familiar voice behind me says.

I turn around and who do I meet? The boy from the train.

"Peeta!" Annie says standing up and running up to him, embracing him.

"Hey, Ann! What's up?" Peeta asks.
As soon Annie lets go of him he looks at me and smirks "Hey, it's sarcastic girl!" He says. "How are you today Miss Everdeen?"

I roll my eyes. "Wait, you know each other?" Glimmer asks.

"Yeah. Kinda. When I was in the train to New York, he was late and asked to push the emergency button, since the doors were closed." I say recalling the day when Peeta got squashed against the train's doors.

"Yeah, I overslept."Peeta says flatly.

"Oh, so Katniss is the hot girl you met in the train to New York." Finnick pipes up, smirking

I feel my cheeks getting red, and I notice Peeta's are also flushed, but he covers it up "Well, obviously." he says rolling his eyes.

I can feel all eyes on me and Annie notices this and changes the subject.
"So, Peeta what happened this time? Did you get kicked out of the bus again?" She asks.

Peeta chuckles "No. Well, yes. I kinda was, but! It was my choice to leave!" Peeta says.

"So, you didn't get kicked out." Gale says flatly.

"Technically I was. So I had to climb in the trunk." Peeta says, sheugging.

"How?" I ask, thinking this story is completely made up. But at the same the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

"Well, I saw a sign saying to don't touch a red button that was next to my sit And I thought, I wonder what this button do. So I decided to push it only once. When I touched the button an alarm went off and the bus drive pushes me out of the bus. What he didn't realize that the bus trunk's doors were unlocked. I really couldn't loose this train or I wouldn't be able to come back to campus until tomorrow, and I had promise myself that, no matter what, I would be in campus by sunset, so I had to go in the trunk. And I did. In the middle of the ride the bus stopped and the bus driver went to the trunk and saw me there. He punched me and kicked me out yet again. So I was in the middle of nowhere. So I had to call Finnick, my emergency contact, to come pick me up." When he finishes his story everyone is laughing, me included. "True story!" He adds

"I don't believe you for a second." what's his name says, still laughing.

"Well, Marvel, believe this. I had to drive all the way to New Jersey to get this ass." Finnick says, making Peeta snort.

"I'm all the excitement you have in your life, admit it!" Peeta says.

I chuckle and Annie says "Typical Peeta Mellark always acting without thinking, Annie says.

"I still don't believe this." I say.

"You want to see my battle wound?" Peeta asks, raising his chin. He has a dark bruise I haven't noticed before near his jaw. "I could've fought back, but the bus driver was kinda buff, and I'm not into hitting fat people" he adds, creating another round of laughter among the group.

"Okay, I believe you now!" I say, my face already red from laughing so much.

Peeta sits down between me and Annie

"Watcha doin, Ann?" He asks in a ridiculous accent, making Annie snort.

"STudying, something  you should do sometimes too." Annie answers smirking.

"Studying, huh?" Peeta asks, analysing every single move Annie makes. After a while he shruggs "I'll add that to my Bucket list."

"Bucket list? " I ask.

"Yes, you don't have one?" Peeta asks.

Annie rolls her eyes "Peeta, you're the only person I know that has a Bucket list." she says.

"You don't get it, Annie. But I supposed no one really does." Peeta pipes up. "I'll just tell you both one thing." he says smirking, suddenley lowering his tone.

I get closer to him to listen better, and so does Annie.

Peeta smirks wider and says "You only live once."
