It was minutes after eight p.m. when they returned to the ballroom. They had been inside the room for twenty-minutes, but luckily, no one missed them.
Almost immediately, Aria was being whisked away by people wanting to wish her a great day. Chad didn’t mind, he simply took a seat at one of the nearby tables, seeing that his foot was still healing.
Everyone looked happy, and Aria was offered way too many dances than she could manage. Every time she tried to escape to go to him, someone else appeared.
She didn’t mind though. She was a people-friendly person, and most of the guests there were friends.
She didn’t mind though. She was a people-friendly person, and most of the guests there were friends.
But had it been something else, Aria would’ve already left to be with her love.
Chad simply sat and watched her. He couldn’t dance himself, so he was glad that she was enjoying her time dancing, even if it was with another man.
She loved to dance too, after all?
What doesn’t she love? She seemed to love just about everything.
Except liars, his subconscious taunted. But he quickly shook the thought from his head.
When that bridge comes, he’ll cross it.
“Beautiful, isn’t she?” a familiar voice asked from behind Chad, and he turned around with a smile when he noticed that it was Liziath.
“Indeed,” he agreed. “I don’t understand how I could’ve been so lucky.”
“I do,” she said with a smile. “You two were made for each other. You’re soulmates.”
“Soulmates?” He chuckled. “Those don’t exist, but I’d like to believe so.”
She rested a hand on his shoulder with a small smile. “Whichever way, you were meant for her, and she for you. It’s only fate. I’m glad you’re a part of the family.” She stood in hopes to leave, but Chad quickly held onto her hand.
“Will you, no matter what happens, have my back, Liziath?” Liziath could see the urgency in his eyes and hear it in his voice, but she did not question why. She only oddly wanted to reassure him.
“Of course. No matter what.” She gave him another smile before adjusting her dress. “Would you like me to stay with you?”
“Oh no,” he said with a nervous laugh. “Go on, enjoy yourself.”
Liziath didn’t reply. She simply nodded with a curtsy before leaving. Chad adored Liziath for multiple reasons, but he adored her spirit the most.
The ball went along a little longer until Aria had finally caught a moment to sit with him. It was actually because they were having dinner. It was a second dinner, but it was necessary.
“I see you are having a great time,” Chad said with his eyes sparkling as Aria took her seat.
“Oh the best,” she told him. “But it would’ve been much greater if I was with you. Can you dance with me?”
“Aria--"
“Please. I won't go fast and I’ll hold you up so you don’t hurt your foot.” Her eyes were pleading and she clasped her hands in the cutest way while she batted her eyelashes.
Chad couldn’t say no.
“Okay.” He breathed out a breath of defeat and she did a mini-victory dance behind the table. “But only one.”
