Chapter 9 - Ten points

Fortune sighed as she turned back to the acrobats and aerial girls they had.

"Just don't tell my brothers." She sighed out again as they all quickly nodded.

"Yes Miss Morgana." Came their chorused response as she pushed through them gently, following Alice.

"Alice!" She almost shouted as she hurried after her head aerial dancer.

She saw Alice huff before stopping and looking up at her.

"Yes Miss Morgana?" She tried not to snap.

Fortune shook her head at her confused. "What's going on?"

Alice took a deep breath before shaking her head. "Nothing Miss Morgana. I saw nothing."

"Look I know what you saw but I just wanted to ask if you could not-"

"Not tell anyone?" Alice scoffed out. "Sure, not like I haven't heard that before."

Fortune continued to stare at her blankly. "Where have you heard that before?"

Alice shook her head. "Does that even matter now?"

Fortune nodded quickly as her hands went to her hips. "It matters to me. As your boss." She spoke firmly. "What the hell is going on?"

Alice was silent as she looked around before shaking her head.

"Nothing Miss Morgana. May I go now?" She huffed out.

Fortune nodded slowly as Alice quickly walked away, running a hand through her hair. She watched her blankly.

"Everything okay Miss Morgana?"

She turned and saw Jacob smiling at her, his hands going wild in front of him as he seemed to make the playing cards dance.

"You're fairly new to us right Jacob?" Fortune asked firmly as she turned to him.

Jacob laughed warily but nodded as he stopped playing with the cards.

"7 months next week, we've been in this family." He spoke with a smile.

Fortune smiled back at him. "You know our rules though, right?"

Jacob nodded again. "Family never gives up on family and no secrets."
