Chapter 16 - All he saw was her

"How-" Fortune couldn't even finish her question as she stared at him in shock.

Ace shrugged slightly. "I did my research."

"Clearly." She mumbled.

"I know you have a big day today, like with the show and all so I thought I'd grab you before it all started." He spoke quietly as he brought his knees up and softly picked at the grass between his legs.

Fortune couldn't wipe the small smile coming to her face.

"And I kinda wanted to be first."

Her smile grew. "You were. Kinda think everyone's just forgotten about it if I'm honest."

Ace shook his head. "Not me."

Fortune shook her head as she was unable to take her eyes off him. "No Ace, never you."

He finally looked up at her as his eyes scanned over the dress.

"I do really love that dress." He mumbled as his scanned over every inch of her.

Fortune felt herself blush and become somewhat grateful the night blocked it out.

"I remember. You always said you wanted to hook with me when I'm wearing it." She laughed slightly.

Ace nodded slowly, he had in his head but he had a feeling that it didn't count.

The pair stared at each other in silence. The quiet sound of the crickets filled the air as they found themselves unable to stop themselves from leaving closer.

The cold soft breeze blew past them as their heads inched closer and closer.

Their lips millimetres apart as Fortune felt his breath on her lips, just as he felt hers.

The build up being too much. Yet before their lips could meet in the long-anticipated kiss-

"Yo guys you forgot-"

They quickly leant away from each other as they turned up to see Eyeball standing there, holding a bag.

He paused as he looked between the two of them before a big grin came to his face.

"Just like old times aye?" He laughed out.

Ace groaned slightly as Fortune couldn't stop herself from laughing.
