"Welcome to the world, Jolie Grace Barnes." I said, my voice faint after 12 hours of intense labour, I was holding our little daughter in my arms and I might be biased but she was absolutely perfect.
Dr. Cho and her team had contributed to a uncomplicated delivery and I was really thankful for them.
James sat next to my bed, watching over us, his eyes filled with utmost adoration.
I caressed the smattering of dark hair that covered my daughter's tiny head and my gaze traveled over her closed eyes, her small button nose and her pink little lips.
"She's perfect and you my love did incredible. I'm in awe of you. Nothing in the world could have prepared for the feelings of becoming a parent." A solitary happy tear accumulated in his stormy blue eyes.
He carefully placed a kiss on Jolie's head and with the brightest smile I ever saw grace his lips he leaned over and did the same to me.
In my head, I replayed all of our moments together. From us first meeting in the 1940's to now happily engaged and becoming the parents to this perfect little bundle of joy. The journey was tainted with a lot of darkness, I gotta say that I lucked out.
And overwhelming sense of peace and content spread through my body mixing the after effects of the pain medication wearing off.
Tired but happy I looked at my beautiful fiancé and my incredible daughter and couldn't wait for the rest of our lives.
