"Bucky ? I called Bruce to pick her up immediately. Do you want to finish this or do you want to go with her ?" Steve said.I didn't answer him. I got up from the floor, the rage completely overtook the sadness, the anger. I walked over to Pierce who was laughing huskily. Fucking asshole.
I picked him up by his collar and carried him to the nearest wall and smashed his skull against the concrete wall.
"I'm never gonna forgive myself for letting this happen to her but killing you will be a sweet reward." I spat murderously through gritted teeth.

I grabbed his throat with my metal hand, blinding rage cursing through my veins. Fuck.

And just pushed.

Pierces' lifeless body slumped to the ground, his cracked skull leaking blood onto the concrete.

I stood over him, a wave of disgusting satisfaction washed over me. I turned to see Elaine being carried away on a gurney. The light of my life was gone. All because I was too scared to admit my feelings

"Barnes, she's still alive." Banner said before disappearing into the night. I saw Steve turning his head towards the exit, signaling me it was time to go.

"FUCK." I screamed in anger. Angry at myself for not only letting this happen to my Elaine but also because I promised myself that I wouldn't go back to my old self. Now I not only hurt her but I also killed a man.

My metal fist slammed against the concrete wall, pieces coming loose as I took my hand out of the hole that it made.

"Buck ? Let's go, buddy." Steve put his arm around my shoulder.

Back at the compound, I paced in front of the glass door to the medical unit where Banner was tending to Elaine.

"Barnes." I heard Bruce call after what felt like an eternity when in reality it was about an hour.

Banner came out of the room, pushing his frame frameless glasses up his nose.

"She's stable, her vitals are back up again. We put her into a artificial coma for now, so the serum can do it's thing and heal her up completely.
I gotta say, Barnes. If it wasn't for the serum, I doubt she would have made it." he said unbuttoning his lab coat.

"Thank you so much, Banner. Can I see her ?" I asked slowly.

He just nodded and gestured to the door.

I entered the room carefully, almost as if I was scared to make any sound.

My beautiful Elaine lay in the hospital bed, the white sheet a stark contrast to her slightly tanned skin and her auburn  curls matted and tangled in a bun on top of her hair. The cut on her face had closed up already. I sat down on the edge of the bed, looking at this amazingly strong woman that I lost my heart to.

I stayed with her a little longer marveling over sheer beauty.

She was my safe space, my calm before the storm and I would do anything to prove my love to her.

I took her hand up to my lips and kissed it softly.

"I love you, Elaine Ruby Brubaker." I whispered softly as I got up from the bed.

I looked back one last time before closing the glass doors behind me.

With my head down, I walked down the hall.
It was morning already, the light was streaming through the ceiling to floor windows of the gym.

I hooked a punching bag to the chain hanging from the concrete ceiling and started to punch it while my mind was wreaking hell on me. With every punch the bag flew higher and my anger grew.

Suddenly I was punching the bag so brutally that the whole thing flew across the room landing in front of the door.

If it wasn't for my dumb ass Elaine wouldn't have been hurt.

My fists hit the walls repeatedly, the concrete breaking under my fists and crumbling onto the floor.

"Hey, soldier. I don't think the walls did something to upset you ?" He heard a voice that wasn't familiar to him, a russian twang.

A dirty blonde woman in a army green tank top and black leggings entered the gym.

"I'm Yelena. Natasha's long lost assassin sister. You're Bucky Barnes, right ?" she asked looking at me with her head slightly turned to the side.

I just grunted in response.

"Hey, you're bleeding." She approached me slowly pointing at my human hand. Looking down, my knuckles were covered in blood.

"Lemme clean this up for you." she said while inspecting my hand.

Quickly she ordered me to sit down on the floor while next to her she laid out a roll of gauze and a few other things to patch me up.

"Look, I don't want to step on your toes but don't beat yourself up, it's not your fault.
