"You're shitting me, Barnes." I spat while I was standing in front of him. I was ready to fight.
"Look, viper. I don't do that shit anymore. I found a way to rid myself of the brainwashing and I rather not go back. Pierce can kiss my sweet ass goodbye."

He got up and that was my signal to attack, just like I was taught. I tackled him to the nearest wall. Barnes didn't resist until the back of his head hit the concrete wall.
He grabbed my wrist with his gloved hand. What weirdo wore leather gloves in the middle of summer ? His grip on my wrist was so tight and even through the gloves he felt cold.
Suddenly he spun me around and now I was the one who was hitting her head on the concrete.
He held my wrist above my head, his face inches away from mine like he was about to kiss me.
Everything in my brain screamed:
DO IT, JERK. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
He was breathing heavily, panting almost. Like he enjoyed holding me like that.
"Oh, how the tables have turned, doll" he said, a cocky grin on his face.
I wanted to slap that grin off his face so bad.

"What's your actual name, viper ?" he asked while slowly releasing my wrists from his iron grip. I looked at him confused, really trying to make sense of this man.
"Elaine Ruby Brubaker." I said.
"James Buchanan Barnes." he retorted. As if I didn't know his name. Dumbass.

But besides his name I knew absolutely nothing about him.

I sat myself on the couch and put my feet up on the wooden coffee table. Deal with it, jerkface I thought to myself.
I turned my head to where Barnes was standing.
"So you know how to get rid of the brainwashing ?" I asked him.
I wanted nothing more than to be free.
Being a slave to Hydra for so many years was no life worth living.
But realizing I have to trust this man, to help me be free, I don't know if I could.

"Look, Barnes. I don't trust you. And I don't want to owe you anything. But could you help me get rid of this? I said touching my hand to my temple.

"Doll, we barely know each other. You followed me home, demanding me to come with you back to the States, to deliver me to Hydra. You owe me getting to know you, to trust you. How else I'm gonna be sure you won't serve me to Pierce on a silver platter ?" he said while looking at me. Fine, I guess I'm gonna be in Romania a while longer.

Barnes sat down on the couch next to me and removed his gloves. One of his hands was silver.
He noticed the strange look on my face so he sighed.
"Hydra had given me the serum that night and I went back on a mission after my best friend rescued me from Schmidt. That was probably after you had already left. It whole building blew up. On a mission I fell into the alps. I thought I  had died on the spot but the serum saved me and Hydra found me again and made me the Winter Soldier."

We ended up ordering takeout from this romanian restaurant and ate and talked about the stuff we experienced as assassins working for Hydra.

I was slowly warming up to him. Real slow.

After dinner we said our goodbyes and I left to go back to my place.

My phone rang.

I looked at the caller ID and it said 'Rumlow.' I didn't want to talk to that fuckface.
So I let it go to voice mail.

Barnes was gonna help me get rid of the brainwashing. That's all that mattered to me right now.

My phone pinged.

I pulled my phone out of the pocket of my sweatpants and looked at the screen.

It was Barnes.

'at my place at seven sharp tomorrow, doll.
bring the newspaper and plums.'

That made me chuckle. I started to type a response.

'I'm surprised that you know how to text, old man.
see you tomorrow, jerkface.'

A minute later it pinged again and I smiled at the screen as I read the text.

' someone likes to tease me. I might need to do something about that.
Sweet dreams, doll.'
