Chapter 1

//Natalia's pov//

"Now even though your of age to drink in Australia, please don't go too crazy" my mom nagged while I was finishing up packing my large suitcase.

"I know" I sighed as I zipped up the bag and set it down on the floor along with my carry on.

"Just promise me you'll be safe" she asked with a nervous look in her eyes.

"I will mom" I urged "I'm finally getting to live two of my biggest dreams in one year"

After I graduated high school a few months ago I found out that I had been excepted into the International Australia Zoology Sub Year Association. I'm going to be flying from my home town of San Diego all the way to Rainbow Beach, Australia and work at the Rainbow Beach Interactive Zoo, and also don't even have to worry about paying rent or worrying about food because I'm staying at the house of the owners of the Association.

"Are you ready?" My dad hollered from down stairs.

"Yes" I hollered back.

My dad loaded my bags into the trunk and my mom, dad, my older brother Ryan, and I all piled into my moms black SUV and drove to the San Diego International Airport.

"I'm going to miss you" Ryan said as he wrapped me in a hug.

"I'll miss you too Ry" I said as I teased him with the nick name from our childhood he hated.

"Don't have too much fun with out me Nat" he said

"We'll miss you too, we love you Natalia" my dad said.

"Please be safe" my mom reminded me as I went up the escalator to wait for my flight to board.

"Flight 201" the flight attended said over the speaker phone.

I handed the lady my ticket and boarded the plane as my stomach erupted into a million butterfly's. What if I was making a huge mistake and moving across the world to help accomplish my dream was all a big mistake?

I guess you'll never know if you don't try.

"Oh excuse me, I think your in my seat"
I said to a red headed girl with bright green eyes that looked to be about the same age as me.

"Oh sorry" she said as she checked her ticket and switched to the seat next to her "So what are you going to Australia for?"

"I got excepted into the National Australia Zoology Sub Year Association" I answered with a smile on my face.

"You are!" She squealed "me too!"

"Really?" I asked exited that I had already made a friend.

"Yeah, what are you working as?" She asked "I'm working in the horse stables"

"I'm working as a zoo keeper" I said

"That's so cool" she gushed "I'm so glad I already met someone I'll be staying with"

"Same" I agreed "oh sorry, I didn't get your name"

"Grace Henry" she said "what's yours"

"I'm Natalia Wills" I said

"Natalia, that names so pretty" Grace said "my names so boring, it seems every other girl is named Grace or Gracie now a days"

"Grace is pretty name too" I said "and on the bright side at least your name will always be on those cheesy keychains in gift shops"

"True" she said while laughing "I can tell already were going to be great friends"

"I can tell too" I said as I smiled.

I felt all my worries about this trip being awful fade away now that I had a friend with me in this journey.
