chapter thirty three:

amber opened her messages and typed back to jamie.

amber
jamie, i need to talk to you.
something has happened,
i don't know if I'm making the
right decision.

jamie replied back almost instantly.

jamie
is everything alright?

amber
can you come to my hotel room?

jamie
i'm coming over now,
i'll be there soon.

amber sighed and rubbed her face. after around ten minutes jamie had arrived, and his facial expression instantly turned to concerned when he had seen amber.

he instantly brought amber into a hug, pulling away to close the door.

"what's happened?" he asked her.

amber then bit her lip in an attempt to stop herself from getting upset.

"oh amber..." jamie said.
"i feel like a fool." amber said softly.
"it's okay, what happened?" jamie asked, bringing amber into a hug.

he then guided her to her bed, where the two both sat on the end.

"talk to me." jamie said.

amber sighed, "i'm tossed between the twins. it's horrible. i've only known them two weeks and somehow have gotten myself in a situation where i'm stuck in the middle. josh is perfect, and i should want to be with him, but jake always seems to be on my mind. then last night happened, jake cried over me, jamie. do you know how horrible i feel? knowing i caused that to happen. and i promised josh i wouldn't let jake affect my judgements last night but..." she trailed off.

"what have you decided to do?" jamie asked.

"I want to not be with either of them. i'd rather have none of them than hurt the other, it'd be too hard." amber said.

jamie nodded.
"you know, i could see you ending up with jake." he said.
"really?" amber asked.
jamie nodded, "you two have so much in common, and i can see the way he looks at you, and you look at him. although you don't realise it, you two always have been looking to each other."

amber sniffled, "i don't think it's best doing anything. especially with this fake relationship going on. i think i should just keep up the act until the end of the american leg and then we'll all split ways and it'll be fine, right?"

jamie looked to amber sympathetically.
"well you and jake could keep it private for a little bit, you know? and then you could tell josh after some time." jamie said, "the fake relationship could take all the weight off of your shoulders"
amber frowned, "but then the media would go into a frenzy the minute they spot jake and i together. it's set up for disaster. i'd rather be alone than have to hurt one of them." she said.

there were then a few knocks at the door and amber looked to jamie.

"can you answer it?" amber asked.

jamie nodded and stood up, moving to the door as amber hid off to the side, out of sight from the doorway.

"hi... i just wanted to bring these for amber, i- is she alright? she was meant to see me last night and she didn't end up doing so... these are for her." a familiar voice said from the doorway.

"thanks, i'll get these to her, and she's fine." jamie said.
"ar-are you sure?" the voice asked softly.
"i'm sure, thank you for your concern though josh." jamie said.

amber then bit her lip anxiously.

i hope he isn't suspicious. amber said to herself.

she was already preparing having a conversation with him about this tonight.

"okay... make sure you get them to her though." josh said.
"i will, bye josh." jamie said.

the door then shut, and amber walked over to jamie, seeing a small bouquet of sunflowers in his hand.

"these are for you... from josh." jamie said, handing them to amber.

amber then saw a little note attached to the stem of one of the flowers.

'i handpicked these not so far from here and they instantly reminded me of you... my sunflower x'

amber blushed softly but was also a bit worried, knowing that he still does have feelings for her, and so does his twin brother.

amber placed the flowers on her bedside table and turned to jamie.

"do you think you'll be okay to still hang around them? you have a whole tour ahead of you still." he asked.

amber nodded, "i mean of course i can still be civil, we can be friends, i hope they'll respect that, but i'm just not sure about how it'll end up in the end. i hope we all part ways on good terms."

jamie stood there and smiled softly to her, "no matter what you decide you'll have me by your side. boy or no boy."

amber smiled, it was like a breath of relief knowing jamie would support her no matter what, like he has been doing since they first met.

he knows of her past, of her history with her ex-boyfriend, and he understands that she wouldn't want to commit to anything because she may not be ready again.

it was a long process moving past that heartbreak, and she didn't know whether she could deal with one let alone two again.
