This has no connection/impact on the actual storyline. It is just an imagined scenario, a 'what if'.

Just pretend mr half and half Todoroki likes Y/N, okay?

Just do it.

The back of Y/N's head hit the wall with a thump, and he groaned in pain. His back pressed against the cold concrete, hands against the wall. He blinked, surprised. "Todoroki, what the hell?"

The other boy's two-toned eyes narrowed and he moved close to Y/N. One of his hands slammed into the wall right next to Y/N's head. He flinched, and Todoroki leaned in close.

"W-wait, what are you doing?"

Todoroki pursed his lips. He stared Y/N down, his multicoloured eyes dark. "Don't lie to me about this."

Y/N widened his e/c eyes innocently, staring back at his aggressor's own eyes. The position they were in was a little scary. "Lie about what? You haven't asked me-"

"A-are you a murderer?" Todoroki leant in even closer. His warm breath ghosted over Y/N's lips, foreheads practically touching. His eyes were deadly serious.

Y/N felt his face go red, and not just from the thought of being discovered. He's s-so... close. He bit his lip. "Uh... no?"

Todoroki pressed closer till they were practically breathing the same air. The surface of his eyes were glassy with tears. His voice trembled. "You're a terrible liar, Y/N."

Y/N winced, and the other boy's face tightened. "You killed Snipe, didn't you?"

"Maybe." The hesitation in Y/N's voice confirmed it for Todoroki, and he pushed off against the wall, his next breath shaky. He didn't immediately attack, which was a surprise.

Todoroki steeled himself. "Why?"

"Money."

"That's it?"

"Yeah." The other boy muttered a sorry, before moving round Todoroki and patting the conflicted student on his shoulder. He looked conflicted, eyes darting to Y/N. Whenever he tried to meet them, Todoroki looked away.

"How could you do that?" He murmured. "He was a nice person."

"I know." For the first time in a while, Y/N felt a pang of guilt. "But I had to."

Just like he had to kill Todoroki. It was the obvious, most logical thing to do. Remove the person who had figured out what he was. But I don't want to kill him. Even if I have to sacrifice all the money I've spent here, and ruin any chance I have at completing those remaining five contracts, I just can't.

A tingle raced up Y/N's fingers from where he'd touched Todoroki's shoulder.

"Please don't hate me." He didn't bother asking for the student to not tell anybody - it was his duty as a hero. They stood in silence for a few seconds.

Eventually, Todoroki broke it. "I'm not sure." He looked at the ground, eyes covered by his bangs.

"What?" Y/N's hand rested limply on Todoroki's shoulder. They stood like that for a few seconds, warmth filling Y/N's fingertips.

"I'm not sure if I want to stay here."

Y/N paled, removing his hand and taking a step past the still Todoroki. They stood back to back. One boy stared at the wall, looking down towards the ground. The other stared high into the sky, away from U.A and towards the city. Neither of them wanted to show the emotion in their eyes. "Don't say that."

Todoroki spun round, grabbing Y/N by the shoulders. A huff of air left Y/N's throat as he was shaken roughly. "I can say what I want. If you've noticed, the hero's life hasn't been kind to me. Even the number two hero is a bigger asshole than some of the villains."

"Not gonna say that's wrong, but still..."

Y/N looked Todoroki carefully in the face. "What are you suggesting?"

The other boy growled in frustration. "I don't know... I've spent my whole life training to be a hero. But I don't want to lose you... I don't want to have to fight you."

"You won't have to." Y/N touched Todoroki's cheek with the knuckles of his hand. The h/c boy was unusually serious. "You can stay a hero. I don't think the kind of life I live is for you." He pulled his hand back, smiling gently.

"You're not a killer, Todoroki. I am. And I'm not about to watch as one of my first friends throws away everything they've worked for." He swallowed.

Todoroki lowered his head, releasing Y/N's shoulders. "I know that too."

Y/N couldn't help but feel sorry as Todoroki clenched his fists at his sides. "I haven't told anybody, you know."

Y/N's heart skipped a beat.

"Why?"

"I... don't know."

Todoroki looked at Y/N, eyes starting to brim with tears for the first time Y/N had seen him. "I know that you and I are completely different, and that there is no chance of you staying now I know what you are. I'm sorry. I didn't want to figure out like this. I didn't want to make you leave."

"Hey, hey, hey..." Y/N soothed. "I'm sorry. It's my own fault for coming here in the first place."

Todoroki gasped weakly, pushing out the remainder of the words like they physically hurt. "...But I can't seem to stay away from you." He grabbed at the skin over his heart, coughing. "I don't know what this feeling is..."

Y/N was flushed bright red, eyes tinged with sadness. "I do. Sometimes it'll feel like you're tearing yourself apart thinking of someone, trying to stay away but being drawn back. And I'm sorry for putting you through it."

The boy took a step away from Todoroki. He'd never realised how much he felt for him. And he regretted it. Because a contract killer could never, ever be somebody to somebody else.

"It's like an addiction, isn't it? And there's bound to be withdrawal symptoms." He took another step away, out of Todoroki's reach. "But to lose an addiction you have to stop using the drug first."

Y/N turned away as Todoroki's eyes welled up, hot tears spilling down his face. He knew Y/N was right - a hero and a villain couldn't even be friends. But in that moment, he would've given anything to not be a hero.

Y/N took a few steps away, head lowered as he swallowed back a sob. Here I am, walking away from the only friends I've made in my life. And it's my own choice.

He sighed as he left Todoroki standing there.

Maybe I'm destined to be alone.
