you and matt stood there in a hug for a long time. he waited until your tears slowed down and you were able to talk again.

"it's ok, i promise." matt comforted you. "i'm not going anywhere and i never will. i'm right here."

you gripped the back of his sweatshirt and finally got the words out. "thank you matt."

"of course. do you want to get in the car? it's getting dark."

you nodded. he lead you to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for you. you noticed another sweatshirt sitting on the seat for you and you picked it up and sat down. he closed the door and made his way around to his side. while he got in the car you slipped the sweatshirt on. you didn't even realize how much you were shivering until it was finally on. you pulled the sleeves over your hands and held your arms. matt looked at you and smiled a comforting smile.

"you ready?" he said.

you nodded and sniffed. "where are we going?"

"anywhere you want to." he responded.

"honestly," you started, "i just wanna go home."

matt smiled sympathetically. "ok y/n, i'll take you home."

matt let you play any music you wanted on the way there. you played your favorite playlist and you both sang the lyrics of the songs on the way. matt made you happy and made you forget about everything that happened.

you looked at him while he was singing, and realized just how perfect he was. his side profile was beautiful. the way he smiled made your stomach flutter. his eyes seemed to brighten any room he walked in, and it brightened the night. you wanted nothing more than to kiss him, so fucking bad.

oh my god, i'm in love with matt. you thought to yourself. he glanced over at you and caught you staring. you looked away and stared straight ahead.

"what?" he asked with a smile.

"nothing." you responded. matt looked away and a small grin grew on your face.

the rest of the ride home remained the same. you had a blast the whole way and kept stealing glances at him, some being returned. he gave you so many butterflies it was unreal. it took every ounce of you just to not hold his hand. finally he made it to the side of your house and parked on the curb. matt turned the music down but left the car on. you two looked at each other, saying nothing for a little while.

"are you going to be okay?" he finally started.

you nodded. "honestly, i feel kind of free. i loved him, or i thought i did, but he hurt me almost every day. now i'm finally away from the hurt and i don't need to worry about it anymore."

"that's amazing." he smiled. his smile vanished just as fast as it had appeared. "hey, i'm proud of you."

"for what?"

"finally realizing what the best thing for you was." he poked your collar bone as he said the word you.

"well, thank you."

"of course, y/n."

hearing him even just say your name made you happy and feel like there was electricity running through your bones. you two just stared at each other again, he had a little smile stuck to his face as he took in all your features. you couldn't help but to blush. he was just so perfect.

you didn't realize until now, but during that whole conversation, you slowly moved closer to each other until you were now only a few inches apart. you looked down for a second out of nervousness, but he took his hand and used his finger to push your chin back up to his level. you stared deep into his eyes and you felt your heart pounding. all of a sudden you both leaned in.

he kissed you on the lips. so soft yet full of emotion. his finger remained under your chin as you found a rhythm. you moved your hand and held the back of his neck in place as he moved his up to your cheek. you felt your whole body tingle with excitement and happiness as you continued to kiss. finally you both pulled away and rested your foreheads against each others for a few seconds. you couldn't believe what just happened.

you pulled away completely. "matt."

"yes, y/n?"

"i have to go now."

"okay, go. please sleep well. and stay safe."

"i will. goodbye matty."

"bye."

you exited the van and ran up to your room immediately. you closed the door and sat up against it thinking about what just happened.

"holy shit." you whispered to yourself. fear struck you as you realized how fast things were moving. how long had you known the triplets for? a week? more?

then again you felt so much joy as you remembered the kiss. you couldn't help but smile and smell the sweatshirt you had on. it smelt just like him. you slipped in bed and cuddled up in his sweatshirt and drifted easily into sleep.
