I make it to the house and walk to my room. I grab a random pair of shorts and a tank top to change into before bed. I placed my clothes on the couch that was on the other side of the room facing the bed. I climb into the bed pulling the covers over my body and laying my head on the pillows, I drift off to sleep fast as I was really tired from the long day with a smile on my face. Soon I begin having a nightmare that I was back home getting beaten for trying to run away, I scream and cry coving myself to protect myself.
My eyes shoot open and I sit up looking around remembering I'm far away from there, I wrap my arms around myself and take deep breaths to calm down. Taking a look at the clock, it was 5 am. Knowing I'm not going back to sleep I get up and walk to Judas's door, opening it. He was sound asleep so I closed the door and went to the kitchen. Grabbing a glass and filling it with some ice and water before walking to the living room side of the house and sitting on the couch.
I grab the remote and turn the tv on making sure the volume is low so I don't wake Judas up. Scrolling the channels to find something to watch going fast as some stations had risky stuff on, soon found the movie Underwater (2020) and I sat there hugging a pillow as the movie played. My eyes and ears are focusing on the movie as I kinda hide my body behind the pillow, about 35 minutes into the movie they are looking at a monster they just pulled from a body.
I feel hands grab me at my sides and I scream as the monster on the tv also moved and screamed. "What are you watching princess?" Judas laughed as he was standing behind the couch.
I grab my racing heart as the movie plays on in the background "A-a movie why did you scare me?" I asked, laying down on the couch. "Why are you up so early?"
"I called you three times and no response, I always wake at this time to go out for a run. I have seen this movie before and knew that the baby monster thing was gonna move so I saw a chance." He grinned.
"Ohh you are so gonna pay for that and cool hope you have a nice run, maybe I will join you on the run one day?" I ask as I sit back up.
"Sure you can join me whenever you want, it will be a nice bonding moment." He softly pets my head. I stand on the couch so I'm at eye level with him.
"I know I can't fill that hole in your heart that your wife and daughter left but I hope I can fill it just enough to make you feel whole again, I hope you fill the hole I have in my heart with love that my family never did and be the father I've always needed and wanted. Just give us time to heal one another and I know soon enough we will be a great family.'' I give him a kiss on the cheek and another big hug.
"Thank you for your words that means a lot Skylar, it means the world to me and I hope to be the father you need as well.'' He kisses my forehead before he heads out for his run.
I sit back down and finish the movie. It was 6:30 now and the movie ended so I went and made some breakfast for Judas and me, so I started making some pancakes, eggs and bacon. I hear footsteps coming around the corner confused. I turn and it's Ren, he looked shocked I guess to see me up so early.
"Why are you up so early?" He asked as he walked over taking a seat at the bar of the kitchen.
"I normally wake up early so I'm just used to it, Judas went on a run if you're looking for him.'' I flip the pancakes and make extra for Ren.
"Oh, I know he texted me and told me to keep you company while he's out and good thing cause that food is looking good." He licked his lips.
"Haha, good thing I'm making extra'' I smile at him as I plate a few of the finished pancakes.
He gets up and gets one of the tables in the dining room set with plates, forks, knives, spoons and glasses. It took about 30 minutes to cook everything as we set everything up. Judas runs around the corner from the elevator and sprints to me, I scream and laugh as he pulls me into a hug. I smile as we soon dig into the food as the Tv plays another movie in the background.
"Um Judas, do you think after I officially settled in and summers over that I can go to school if it's ok?" I ask shyly.
"Sure you can. I don't see a problem with that, over the summer we can do some school shopping to get you the basics. I'll call the school today to get a meeting with the principal." He smiles.
