So-called Friends

I had gone back to school but took time off of gym class so I could rest some more. Koby has been distant ever since I told him what happened. I would just stay away giving him time to think things over, I eat lunch outside on the football fields just to be alone. Days turned to weeks and weeks to a full month Koby has not talked to me. I was just laying outside looking at the sky and listening to music. Tapping my foot and I had my eyes closed enjoying the moment when the sun gets blocked out.

I opened my eyes and they landed on a bloody and bruised, "K-Kai?"

He seemed to be in a haze. He smiles before blacking out and landing on top of me, the smell of blood hitting my nose. I roll him over on his back and check his wounds as tears roll down my cheeks.

"KAI, PLEASE DON'T DIE," I found a stab wound and I applied some pressure. I look to my left seeing my friends.

"Please call an ambulance, he's bleeding out," I begged them but they just stood there.

"We're done," Koby said, turning around and walking away.

I could feel my heart breaking, "GUY'S PLEASE HELP ME."

"Sorry, we aren't gonna pick sides on this," Elion said as they all turned and walked away.

"YOU LEAVING IS YOU PICKING A SIDE, YOU'RE REALLY GONNA LET A MAN DIE OVER THIS?" They didn't even stop or look back as I shouted.

I place Kai's hands on the wound and rush to grab my phone calling for help as I also call dad. It took them a while to arrive but we got him in and they let me in. I hold his hand tight hoping he makes it out alive, I kiss the back of his hand.

"Please don't die, you have to live, you saved me now my turn to save you," I say as I sit in the ambulance. 'On the way to the hospital dad, please I need you there.' I text dad.

'On our way right now.' He texted back as we pulled up to the hospital.

I jump out and follow as they wheeled him into the emergency room, they say I have to wait outside. I pace in the waiting room. I soon hear dad and Ren come in. I run into their arms crying scared to lose the guy that saved me, they both rub my back as they sit me down.

"Tell us what happened?" Ren tells me.

"I don't know, I was out in the football field relaxing when the next thing I knew the sun got blocked out and there he was. Head to toe covered in cuts and bruises he passed out and landed on me, I freaked trying to help stop the bleeding. Please he was the reason I was able to get free from that hell hole along with Tylor's help." I whip the tears from my eyes. "That's not even the end of it, I asked for my friend's help but they all just turned and left. Koby says we are done and leaves."

"I am so sorry sweetheart," Dad said, holding me close.

The doctor walks in and says we can see him, I rush to my feet and follow behind seeing Kai hooked up to so many machines scared me. I walked over, taking his hand in mine and kissing the back of it, when I looked up he was awake with a soft smile on his face. I smile seeing him awake, he uses his free hand and taps the open spot of the bed.

"Please he did so much for me when I needed it, I wanna be here for him," I say tears rolling down my cheeks.

I look at the doctor and she nods yes and so does dad even though he looks pissed, I climb in and cuddle close to him. I never left his side once for a week other than when I had to use the restroom or doctors made me so they could check his injuries.
