Saturday arrived as the sleep washed away from Evangeline as dawn rose. Evangeline had spent most of her time before Jasper's arrival drinking lots of caffeine, reading, and deciding what on earth she was to wear.

It was downpouring with insipid rain outside, rendering Eve's old Italian wardrobe useless. Half an hour flitting through her new clothes (much thanks to Alice's purchasing the week prior), she picked out a short-sleeved cream t-shirt, fitting snug around her body, as well as some dad-fit navy jeans. She thought that her breast swelled in the top, making her feel insecure, even more so thinking of how her well-endowed body would be perceived by the slim Cullens, so an oversized cardigan swallowed her issues.

Midday eventually rolled around, and the sound of Jasper's car interrupted the peaceful reading session the two Freemond's had going on. Clutching her tote bag full of school supplies and her emergency book of the week, Eva made her way over to the honey-blonde's vehicle, hugging herself into her borrowed coat.

"Mornin' Eve," Jasper chirped, hurrying to take her bag and get her into the car before the heavens broke open again with more downpour.

Finally getting into the dry car, they made their way over to the Cullen household. Jasper made certain to turn up the heating, in case the human got wet from the few seconds outside.

"I have to go run some errands with my brothers, but I'll be back in a few hours, and we can hang out and study, darlin'?"

"That would be nice," came her meagre response. She didn't seem really happy today, and he knew he shouldn't take it to heart. It did worry him that she was more distant after such a nice day like yesterday.

Then again, he couldn't forget her account of the deer incident. The one that Carlisle had to be informed of. The one where Emmett got distracted by a bear mid-meal.

Parking the car in the colossal garage, Jasper was nearly immediately at Eve's side, a gentle hand on her lower back, guiding her through the room.

"What were you working on the other day? You had grease everywhere."

Eyebrows raised, unexpecting of that question, Jasper felt relieved that Eva's curiosity overcame her melancholy. His eyes lightened a little from their dark gold shade, happy to answer the girl.

"You see those motorbikes over there? Me and Emmett were changing some of the parts. It's a little hobby of ours," His head lowered to her ear, whispering as if it's some big secret.

"Wow," Eva was gobsmacked. How could one person be so well-versed in anything from history to mechanics? All at, what, 17, 18 years of age? Jasper Hale really was an enigma. A hot one at that, not like she would verbalise that obtrusive thought.

Chuckling deeply, Jasper led her through to the kitchen where Esme was preparing the ingredients.

"Here she is, Esme. Call me if you need anythin'."
