Walking home, Eva let the rain cascade down her hair, washing the tears down with it in solidarity. Her life seemed to be a multifaceted lie. One thing after another seemed to provoke her walls to crumbling, leaving her wondering what she could trust.
She didn't think that it would be true. Vampires. I mean, either she hoped Jasper would lie, or that she was delusional. Eve never expected for him to be so honest with her, yet regardless she would have been left feeling stuck in limbo.
The heavens broke for Evangeline Freemond, cracking thunder and whipping rain throughout her trek home. She needed to feel the presence of nature. She needed grounding, for she knew her mind was twisting into so many thoughts that she felt she would combust under the weight of them.
She really didn't think that Jas confirming her theory was going to be so easy, so open. It hurt her to think that he would react differently. She almost hoped he would act harsh, cold. If it boiled down to something morbid, she would much rather find out his earnestness and gentleness with her was a lie.
She preferred the idea of a liar than a purehearted tragedy.

An hour after walking home, Evangeline submersed herself in the shower, trying to think of questions she needed to ask Jasper. Did he want to hurt her? Obvious answer to that is no, but she felt it was an obligatory question. Are there more of them in Forks? Why were they nice to her when she should be their natural prey?
It became too much for her, so she ended up focusing on rinsing the suds out of her hair and get into comfortable clothes. She worried she wouldn't be able to stand up if she continued overthinking.
Wrapping herself in a soft beige towel, Eva looked at herself in the mirror. She hated how she could never look at herself in a fully positive light, but in that moment she pushed any emotivity aside to work on her skincare, buttering up her skin and pampering her face with masks and serums. She was a robot, mechanical in her night routine. Thoughts were ignored as she focused on something she could physically deal with.
Getting ready for a long night, she slipped into an oversized t-shirt and a pair of shorts, clad in fluffy socks. Plodding over to her bed after brushing out her brunette tresses, Eva sat on her bed listening to Fleetwood mac on the record player.
She sat there. Minutes or hours, Evangeline Freemond had no clue how much time passed as she sat waiting for Jasper Hale.

It was nearly pitch black outside when Eva's phone buzzed. The stars bled in the sky, moonlight adding a hue to the candlelit bedroom.
