----Chapter Eleven----

It was another morning that Eve woke up for school, only today she awoke to an empty bed. Last night Jasper had snuck away, leaving a note of his absence on her bedside table. The bed was tucked in around her, something that never happened since she wriggles in the night. The vinyl from last night had been taken off and set back in its case; something she also recognised to be the Southerner's doing.

Stretching and yawning out the chronic achy feeling in her body, the brunette reached over her nightstand to turn off her alarm, knocking over the small note atop.

Crouching with a groan, Eve began to read the paper.

Dearest Evangeline,

Today it will be sunny weather. Glorious for you since you had to endure so long away from the sun, but my family shan't be in today.

It's a vampire thing if that's what you'd like to hear.

I hope you haven't gotten used to the drives to school Miss Freemond. We should be back tomorrow.

Have a beautiful day,

Jasper :)

She knew it was wrong, but as she got dressed Eva found herself relieved at the idea of not being in company of the Cullens for a day. After the realisation of such a mind-blowing concept of the supernatural, she found herself in need of a mundane lifestyle.

At least, until she fully accepted this. She didn't hate the Cullens, they seemed like normal people, albeit a whole different species, but they used to be human. Humanity can be found in the little things; why would they be lesser people for wanting some normalcy?

Decked in an auburn sundress, her staple oatmeal cardigan and some Doc Martins, Eve decided to put more care into her wellbeing. It was as if life had been shot into her, willingly brewing tea and eating breakfast with her aunt before school. She even felt the jovial spirit of Halloween overcome her, singing along to the radio's tunes as the sun rose.

Wandering into school did bring back that unpleasant feeling of eyes on Evangeline. Without the Cullens' protection, Eve felt as though she was on full display for the students of Forks High School to laugh at. She was alone once again, which is fine unless you count the staring. The staring was just extremely awkward.

That day, Eva had been informed that the school was closing earlier for faculty reasonings, so she prepared to read in her free period before lunch, studying in the afternoon elsewhere. This study period was coincidentally where she met one of the sweetest humans known to earth.

"Is anyone sitting here?" A brown-haired girl politely whispered, pointing to the vacant seat next to Eve's.

"Go ahead," she replied. The shy girl next to her seemed so sweet and like good company. It's a nice change from feeling so cut off from the rest of the students in her year.
