Eva was sick. That much she knew. Getting sick was a common occurrence for the Freemond girl, often catching colds too easily and stressing herself out to the point where she can't go out. She wasn't overly surprised that countless days of sleepless nights, as well as not eating enough to sustain her left her feeling more rubbish than usual.
That morning, at six o'clock, Faye marched into the girl's room, attempting to be comedic while waking her up. This time, Eva couldn't even chuckle with her aunt, or react fast enough when Faye goes to pull back her covers.
"Oh, honey you look a bit pale. How do you feel?" Faye asked, immediately going to place her hand on the girl's forehead.
"I've been better," was the answer.
Tutting her head, Faye declared that she forbade her niece from going into school for at least the next couple days. When faced with weak arguing from Eva that she was 'fine', Faye tucked her in and insisted that she would bring home warm foods in the evenings so she wouldn't exert herself.
With extreme reluctancy, Faye left for work at the diner. Eva found herself texting Alice, asking for her to tell Jasper she won't be in today, but wishing her a good day. 'Tell him not to pick me up. Sick :('

If one thing was certain, it was that no number of pills would fix Evangeline Freemond. Her head begged for peace, her limbs felt as though cement had possessed them, and her throat burned like hell trying to swallow food. Instead of soldiering on and doing her daily routine, she was confined to reading in bed.
That was, if her eyes weren't as dry as the Sahara Desert.
Taking a boiling bath, oozed with essential oils and bath soaks did a great deal to help Eva relax. Submersing herself into the water, Eva allowed the liquid to seep around her aching muscles. Lavender and patchouli invaded her nostrils as she resurfaced. Nimbly, she started massaging the sore points, working up from her feet, all the way up to her neck and throat.
If it wasn't her sickness made her eyes sore and throat throb, it was the unbridled crying. She simply couldn't subside the hiccupping and weeping throughout the day. The record she had yet to beat for time spent not crying in the day was a measly ten minutes, luckily enough to hide it from Faye's lunch visit.
She felt powerless. Weak. Inferior.
Then, after a lot of self-reflection, Eva started to cry over all of her actions in the past few weeks.
She wanted to leave Italy, heal. Stop being dependent on men for feeling alright. She wanted to strip the identity that she had adopted in her past, exchanging it for a new one. No returns. She never wanted to carry over that feeling of dependency on men; she couldn't.
Yet she felt as though she had. Although she tried to argue with herself that the way she acts around Jasper was platonic, she couldn't help but to despise herself for feeling too comfortable, too intimate with him.
