----Chapter Fourteen----
Jasper had gone home that day with a new vigour, motivation flowing inside him like blood, going to inform Carlisle of what he learned.
Dr Cullen was a knowledgeable man on many things, yet he was stumped to hear about what Evangeline Freemond was experiencing. He had theories, of course, as to the Volturi's involvement in her life, as well as the possible explanations of her 'blackouts', but nonetheless he insisted that Jasper bring her to him for a friendly chat. He didn't want to pressure her into divulging any traumatic details, as he assumed much had gone awry in her time with the Italian clan, but he needed to have a conversation one-on-one. Perhaps anything she could tell him would help him into finding a cause, God knew he wished she didn't have to endure such distressing episodes. He was a doctor; he should be able to help her out, hopefully.
So, Jasper and the family planned for a themed night in the next day, Alice prompting a costume party and board games to make Eva feel more comfortable. Carlisle was in agreement with this idea because he knew that Eva needed to feel safe in their company in order to disclose anything deep.
-----.-.-.-.-----
Halloween was upon Forks, Washington, sweeping the glorious sun away with its arrival. It was Monday, which for Eva meant going back to school with the Cullens, who she had yet to see fully after finding out their secret. The notion of it worried her; they may have distaste for her, they may choose to ignore her, alienate her like they do the rest of the student body. Sure, Jasper was alright with her, but she had no idea what the day would bring now that she uncovered their skeletons hidden in the closet.
Arriving at school with Jasper's arm wrapped around her, they walked towards the group already there. If her heart could beat any faster, Eva was sure that she would have a heart attack. That was, until Alice bounded over grinning manically.
"Oh, Eve I'm so glad!" she expressed, wrapping her into a tight hug, "I'm so bad at keeping secrets. It was so hard watching you figure it all out on your own!"
Eve's small smile dropped at the word 'watching'. Was she spying on me when I didn't know?
Edward beside Alice smirked at her question, "Alice wasn't creeping. None of us were, actually," shrugging with his hands in pockets.
Confusion overcame Eve's poor mind, half of the Cullens lightly messing with her naivety. Jasper rubbed her back – which was swallowed by his old jacket – and glared at his siblings.
"I'm not going to question what's happening right now, but thank you," Eve awkwardly smiled. Emmett, she noticed, looked like a kid at Christmas, smiling comically large. He was restrained lightly by Rosalie, who had stopped him from going over and giving the brunette a back-breaking hug.
