"I'm not a religious person but I do sometimes think God made you for me."

- Sally Rooney, Normal People.

A/N - I was listening to Don't Delete the Kisses by Wolf Alice while writing this chapter, so idk it might be nice to listen to it while reading? It matches the vibe of the chappie ♡

Jasper had been making sure Eve got to sleep every night, without fail sneaking in when Faye slept to coax her into slumber. She didn't ask him to do so, but she didn't refuse it either. It was calming, knowing someone was making sure she was alright. Whether Eve knew it or not, he became a pivotal part of her life; they revolved around each other. Without fail, he had become her own personal anchor.

School was torturous, it became habit for Evangeline to phase out and sleep in class. She had this growing fear that if she didn't know what's going on with herself – hell, even how to fix this – then Faye will be called, forcing her to get drugged up and sent to therapy. Evangeline Freemond didn't need that; she thought she was better off without getting some Doctor to label her as a lunatic.

I didn't want to be pumped full of suppressants, having someone pick my brain and tell me my past has carved me into an unfixable lump of human flesh.

I was me. I've handled worse, I can get over this too.

The other day, the brunette had told Jasper about the grandeur of Florence, Italy. The beautiful beaches, the way the night would make the ocean look breath-taking. So, here they were, parking up on one of the beaches further out of town. Not the residential beach that Eve had heard so much about; she didn't know why he chose to go further out of their way to visit a beach.

As soon as school finished, he dashed the girl to his car, ecstatic with his secret plans to take her to the coast. It was sweet, he was so excited to do anything for her. Anything to make her smile.

Just as Eve was unbuckling her seatbelt, her passenger door had opened, Jasper stood with his hand outstretched. She latched her smaller hand onto his, revelling in the comforting sensation. She noted how small her hands were against his, bringing their connected ones up to spread her fingers as far as she could. His cold ones practically engulfed her balmy ones, but the daunting size difference only seemed to bring a warm feeling to Eve's heart. Similarly, Jasper adored the way her hand melted into his. He couldn't help the smile that adorned his face at how he was protecting her nimble digits with his calloused fingers. The predator protecting the prey. Huh.

Walking along the beach down to the tide, the couple came across a woman walking her dog. The sight of the animal struck a nostalgic chord in Eve, provoking her to squeeze the honey-blonde's hand, pointing over towards the dog.
