We are not sitting in a booth inside the bar, it's full of patrons but none of them pay us any attention. "It's been a while Noel." Enzo says as a waitress comes over with our drinks. I take my drink and sit back "40 years I think." I muse casually "last time I saw you, you were 16 climbing the ranks."

The older man nods, clutching his cane tightly, I take a sip of my drink "glad to see you got made boss, I would hate for Lore to have gotten it." Enzo's lip twitched slightly and he picks up his own glass, raising it to his lips "he did, I got pissed and shot him." I snort and we clink drinks.

"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" Javier, who I completely forgot was there, asks. I glance at Enzo and he shrugs, so I turn to Javier who looks like a lost puppy. "I'm sure you know your history." I reply leaning forward on the table.

The man nods "we were formed in 1616 by a woman, she wanted to protect the single women of her town, she employed some men to do it and made them swear to secrecy." I swirl my drink around in its glass.

"Well it's been watered down but that's the general layout yes." I confirm casually, my phone starts buzzing and I take it out of my pocket. Steve's name plastered on the front and I swallow hard. Shaking my head I decline the call and shove it back in my pocket.

The two men are looking at me expectantly "I was that woman." I make things a little clearer "and I wanted to protect the village as a whole, I guess it's more poetic for a woman to protect other women than protect men but I think the story shouldn't be tainted like that. There was a monster that used to terrorise the village that once stood here. I created a group of people, men and women, to help protect everyone else from the beast."

Our table is still silent, noise coming from other parts of the bar. "What happened to it?" He asks "the monster?" I shrug looking across the table at a young couple dancing together in the small space left between the tables and the bar. "No one knows." I answer slowly "but that's why I'm back." Gently I sit closer to the table.

I cross one leg over the other "I want to find it, and kill it." The two men share a look, the younger looking a little more cautious. He runs a hand through his dark hair and eyes me suspiciously "how can we trust you? How do we know you are the founder?" Enzo chuckles and I shoot him a look. He is probably remembering when he asked me the exact same thing. I just smirk and shake my head "that's a story for another time, for now you will just have to trust me."

My phone buzzes again and I sigh heavily. "If you could excuse me ladies, I have a call to take." I say to the guys and they move so I can slide out of the booth. I head for the exit and push the door open, I then take my phone from my jacket pocket "Steve." I say as I answer the phone. "Noel." His familiar voice sounds through my phone "I have been trying to call you for ages, it's only just started going through." I rub my forehead and lean against the brick wall behind me.

"Yeah, I've been living somewhere without service, what's up?" I say as a way of explanation, I hear Steve sigh "Natasha was ready to send a team out looking for you, she thought you died." I look up at the starry night, rare now thanks to modern to technology but also thanks to the snap  they are more visible. "Well you can tell her I am ok." I reply after a few tense seconds. I start pacing as Steve says "we are worried about you, you took the loss the hardest. Honestly, you haven't been the same since."

I chuckle sarcastically "are you telling me, you have gone back to what you were like before Thanos?" I ask and wince slightly at the name. "That's not what I meant Noel, you were close with a lot of people that disappeared." I stop pacing and bite my lip, tears threatening as the memories of the battle of Wakanda resurface. "I'm fine Steve." I say trying to keep my voice from wobbling.

"Will you come see us?" He asks "it would really give Romanoff a peace of mine." I scoff and shake my head "like that woman will ever stop worrying, even with half to population gone she is still a spy." I hear the bright laugh that often comes from Steve Rogers before he replies "anyway, still come. We could really use you." I sigh and  reach the end of the ally way "I'll think about it." I say.

Before I can goodbye Steve cuts in "and if you do, can you see Thor, he hasn't been replying either." This confuses me, Thor has always been so into our team and if he isn't replying the something must be very wrong. At least someone else hates loosing as much as I do. "I will don't worry about it." I say, we say goodbye to each other and I hang up the phone.

I go back inside the bar and head over to my booth "where were we?" I ask clearing my throat. Enzo finishes his drink and Javier answers "monster hunting." I nod my head slowly "right, monster hunting."
