Molton rock comes flying towards us from the volcano and I bring up a shield to protect us against it while Makkari continues to fight Ikaris. "Phastos." Sersei speaks and we all look over at her "I have to try and stop this. I need to get closer to Tiamut. Keep Ikaris busy." I nod my head, letting my power rise within me "We've got you." I say "Go." And Sersei races towards the smoking volcano. Thena, Phastos and I race towards Ikaris and Makkari just as he throws her down in the sand and shoots her with his eyes. Phastos throws his arm out and blasts Ikaris with his power, Ikaris tries to defend himself but doesn't get there in time and gets knocked down. He recovers swiftly and tries to shoot us with his gift, in response I throw up a shield around us and wince at the impact of the force.
Phastos continues to throw energy at Ikaris as Makkari finally gets up and attacks him again while he is distracted. Thena then throws herself at him, attacking him with the procession and skill that earned her an entire island named after her in Ancient Greece. "Thena stop!" He shouts before throwing her backwards and towards us, I throw my arms out and catch her with my power, steadying her on the sand again. Ikaris then starts throwing his power at us and I just manage to bring up a shield in time as Phastos starts shooting at him again.
Thena and Makkari send Ikaris flying backwards only for him to be hit from behind by someone else. For a moment I thought Kingo had joined however my blood runs cold when I see what it actually is. A Deviant. I shoot at it, causing it to throw its attention to us as Thena asks "Why are you helping Ikaris?" And I reply "We can't let it absorb our powers." The Deviant turns completely to us and raises a glowing fist that signals it was the one who killed Gil. "Too late." It teases but that was probably the worst thing it could do.
"Thena, he's trying to goad you." Phastos warns "Don't.." But she is already racing towards the beast. Makkari races after her and makes a tornado and sand around the Deviant, making it virtually impossible for anyone to get through. The Devaint does something then, that activates Gilgamesh's power and throws all of us to the ground, knocking Makkari out. "Makkari!" I scream as the Deviant attempts to take her power, Phastos and I attack it and it flies away from her and into a cave. Thena chases after it and Ikaris demands "Where's Sersei?" I glare at him silently from Phastos' side as he replies "You always did underestimate her."
Ikaris doesn't say anything but just flies off. Well attempts to anyway as Phastos lashes out a rope of his power and drags Ikaris back to the beach. We have the man trapped, kneeling on the sand as we walk over to him. "I don't know about you." I shout, loud enough for him to hear "but this is really satisfying right?" Phastos nods his head, eyes on our enemy. "Let me go, Noel, Phastos, I can't let her do this!" Is Ikaris' response and my friend shakes his head "I don't think so. I've been wanting to clip your wings for a long time, Ikaris" He taunts him with his own mythology. The boy who flew too close to the sun. He tries to throw his power at us but thanks to Phastos' invention keeping him on the ground, he can't. I can't help the satisfied smirk that appears on my face.
The ground beneath us starts to rumble like an earthquake but unlike an earthquake,a golden being starts to sprout from the ocean around us. Phastos moves his hand making Ikaris collapse to the ground under the restraints he is in and Phastos mutters "Come on Sersei." I bounce from foot to foot nervously. We have done what we needed to, distract Ikaris so that he cannot stop what we are trying to do and now we have to stand here helplessly and hope that Sersei can do this.
However, because of our complacency, Ikaris manages to break free knocking us away from him. Makaari finally joins us after being knocked out just as he flies towards were Sersei is. "We gotta get up there" I say helping Phastos to his feet but he shakes his head "We'll never make it up there in time." And I realise he is telling the truth as where she is, is not virtually impossible to get to because of the emergence starting. Sersei seems to be using the Uni-Mind as we all become connected and then with a burst of energy from the sky, she stops the emergence. She actually stops it from happening.
Once it is done, we watch as Ikaris flies up into the sky and doesn't return. I guess some stories end up being true in the end, I muse to myself. Sersei rejoins us on the beach, I am leaning against Thena who is stroking my hair gently and Makkari embraces our friend. "How?" Phastos asks her "How did you do it?" We all look over at Sersei for an answer then and she says "When I touched Tiamut's palm, I felt energy surging into me. Tiamut joined our Uni-Mind." My eyebrows raise at that.
"I always wondered how we survived the destruction of the other planets we were on." I muse coming towards the rest of them, Thena in tow. I then start to sign for Makkari's benefit "By being connected to the Celestial as it emerged." Makkari moves over to Thena and I turn my head to the side. I freeze as I see someone coming towards me "Druig?" I ask, unsure. Then I see his cocky smirk and he opens his arms wide. I smile and race towards him with what little strength I have left and launch myself into his arms. "You're alive." I say as tears of relief start pouring from my eyes, Druig holds me close and I close my eyes "I'll always come back to you." He says kissing me hard.
We continue like this for a little while longer until we hear someone clearing their throat behind us. We stop and look around to see the others looking at us "When you two love birds are finished, I think it's time for us to leave now." Phastos says. I blush slightly but Druig pulls me into his side, grinning like an idiot. I look around us and a sense of relief fills me, we actually did it.
