"You and me got a whole lot of history/ We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen."
–History, One DirectionI ran after Anna, what the fuck did Butch mean, the dragon had returned? Also, why was Anna looking as if she was getting ready for war, things couldn't be that bad, could they?
Apparently, they could be. As soon as I got outside I saw the dragon. One word to describe it: Huge. It looked like a sixty-foot-long serpent with steel talons and drill-bit teeth and glowing ruby eyes. It had bat-shaped wings twice its length that unfurled like metallic sails, making a sound like coins cascading out of a slot machine every time they flapped. It looked as if it weighed around 50 tons, gleaming bronze, its razor-sharp teeth munching on something that looked like an... oversized toy bone. Unexpected. But, that wasn't the only thing that surprised me. No, what was even more astonishing was that Leo Valdez was sitting on top of it, a crazy grin on his face. The camp alarm was blaring
"Leo" I heard Piper call.
I looked around and saw that most people were in a mixture of pajamas and armor, armed with bronze weapons. Anna was in the front in her pitch-black armor assessing the situation. She scanned the dragon as if looking for a place to shoot that could disable it, rather than destroy it. She had her bow in her hand, aimed directly at where, I assumed, the dragon's control center would be.
"It's cool, don't shoot" Leo shouted.
Anna totally ignored him, her face regal and strong. She shouted a single order.
"Archers, aim" A group of blond children with bows aimed, in sync. Near me, I heard Piper mutter "It's beautiful" What the Hell?
"Lock shields, shoot on my command" Anna shouted and the others did what she asked.
Leo was desperately trying to get them to stop. He kept muttering 'No, No'. Apparently, Anna heard this and shouted
"Shoot to disable, do not destroy"
The archers were about to fire when I shouted "Stand down"
Everyone stopped, confused. Anna looked at me, her eyes raging, and said "You may be the son of Zeus, but this is my camp, you don't give the orders" HOT and terrifying.
"Uh... sorry, I just wanted to talk to Leo," I said, unsure.
Anna looked at me, the dragon, and finally Leo. To someone else, her face would be unreadable, but I understood what she was doing. She was trying to see if they could handle the dragon if the situation got out of control. Finally, after some excruciating minutes, she said "90 seconds, make it quick." She motioned the archers to lower their bows, but the spears and shields were still aimed, locked on the dragon.
