"Well aren't you smart Leaf?" A small brunette girl in a blue tank top and red miniskirt said to herself.

She was of course being sarcastic. It was night in the Kanto region, and most everyone was spending it in a nice warm bed and even new trainers like her were spending it cozy at a Pokemon Center, and even the worst of them were camping and sleeping in a safe, open field, just like Professor Oak advised them on his show. But where was this small, vulnerable trainer who started her journey barely a day ago? That's right! Lost in Viridian Forest in the dead of the night! 

What a perfect place for a girl, Leaf! She scathingly scolded herself

She entered the forest around midday, expecting to get out in around half an hour at the latest. Now, many hours later, at 11 at night, here she was, getting ready to lay her sleeping bag near a nest of Caterpie. The moonlight barely touched the top of the thick greenery, so Leaf had to do with no light at all, expect from the very dim light of her Pokedex screen. 

Charmander seems like a smart choice now doesn't it?

Leaf shook the thoughts out her head, cursing herself for even thinking of another starter, like a married woman cursing herself for looking at another man. Of course, the only comfort she had now in this deep, thick forest was her dear Squirtle. She hadn't dared take it out though, not wanting it to worry about her or lose it in the pitch blackness.

The silence was also killing her. All the noise came from the threatening buzzing of Beedrill. Not exactly comforting. She decided to simply rest on a small but thick and decently comfortable bush. She didn't want to lay out her sleeping bag, because if the Beedrill attacked her or something happened where she had to run quickly, her sleeping bag would hamper her.

She drifted slowly off, being extremely worn out by the constant wandering around, which, unlike a seasoned Trainer, she was not used to. 

Leaf was plagued with nightmares this terrible night. Images of her friends and families being strangled by Arbok, mauled by Arcanine, and drowned by Tentacruel flashed in her head. She thrashed about wildly, scaring some young Caterpie and Weedle around her. Then, from a bush, a cute, small, yellow rodent like Pokemon jolted her awake, deeply concerned for the girl.

"AHHHH" She screamed as a Pikachu used Thundershock on her, jolting her awake after a particularly gruesome image of her dearest friend (and maybe crush) Red mangled by a Beedrill.

"Oh my Arceus" she said groggily as her vision cleared and she saw the cute little Pikachu standing there with a look of concern on its little face.

She looked around, thinking maybe somehow, a Bug Catcher was here on their way out of the forest, and she could tag along. What she saw was even better though, and made her heart leap.

"Red is that you??!!" She questioned to a slender figure only slightly taller than her. 

(A/N): as u might know, Red is basically canonically mute, he talks in grunts, but Pokemon Masters confirmed Blue and Leaf understand him, so ill be putting his dialogue in parentheses to indicate that lolz. 

"(Leaf is that you???)" a concerned Red quickly asked his friend, getting down to her level, with the intention of checking her for injuries.

"Uh yeah, what are you doing here at like 1??!!" Leaf quickly asked him. She was glad a savior came for her, but was concerned for him at the same time.

"(I could ask you the very same question Leaf!! And for your information, its only 12:30. )" Red interjected, seeing that the girl had no physical injuries, but noting her disheveled, stressed look nonetheless.
