AN/I'm finally back with the other part of this story. I'm sorry for the wait, it's crazy because I had written down everything that I wanted to say in this second part the same day the first chapter came out but I've only just written everything in one sitting right now. This part is a little bit more on the serious side compared to the last chapter. It's not exactly the way I thought it would turn out because this is feels a little less 'crack fic'y at times but this is where the story took me so there you go. I hope you'll enjoy. Finally I'm not sure what will be posted next or when that might be. I hope this writing streak is sticking but I can't promise anything.
Also small warning that I might come back to edit this in a few days because I just spent 8 hours straight writing it so I'll need to read it again with a fresh mind.
My source for everything about the crime families as well as the bugle quote is the MCU wiki. I played with the leaders' names and timelines from Spider-Man, to Agent Carter, to the comics so it is not an exact thing and I also wanted to say that this is very AU since Peter normally fights the Manfredis before going to Europe in 2024 but here the events of IW and Endgame didn't happen and he's still around 17yo so this would most likely take place in 2018/2019. So this is not supposed to follow any sort of particular predetermined timeline.
_______________
POV Betty Brant
Only after her theory about Peter Parker being a member of a criminal organization spread around the school, did Betty realize that she had a huge problem. When she started investigating Peter, she didn't think that it would reveal him to be an actual criminal and in her excitement for finding out the truth, she told her findings to a lot of people.
So now most of the school knew about the rumour. Of course most of them didn't actually believe it because they didn't see it first-hand and "because it's Peter Parker" ( damn that boy can really hide his true face, who would've known but honestly they should've seen it coming because can anyone truly just be that nerdy ? ), which she only thought to be an annoying thorn in her side; but now that she had finally realized that this story was way bigger than she intended, she didn't know what she was supposed to do with it anymore ( never get emotionally involved with the subject of your story : noted ).
The other thing was that even if people didn't believe the rumour, they still entertained the idea ( because what else are a bunch of teenagers supposed to do when they're bored, if not speculate and create wild stories about their fellow classmates ).
Which is why when Peter arrived at Midtown the next school day, he was the centre of mildly discreate attention. At least people tried to be somewhat sneaky. After all, Peter was thought to be a criminal with relations to the underground crime scene, so most people thought it best to not tempt fate, even if the idea was still outlandish.
It became a great pastime of the students to observe Peter ( and as creepy as it sounds, it was probably in fact even worst ). They had, of course, kept the secret from reaching Peter, and by association Ned ( who Betty fondly thought couldn't keep his mouth shut to save his life ), and even though she was fairly certain that the gossip hadn't reached Michelle, who spends little time interacting with other students, Betty thought that with her observation skills, Michelle might have known way before she did ( Betty was also pretty sure that said observation skills were mostly used on a certain criminal boy for other reasons than just uncover the truth wink*Petchelle*wink ).
