18: Mer... what?

Gwendolyn and Adeline had made their way back to Hogwarts For the second task of the tri wizard tournament which was oddly held at the Black lake and the daily profit was giving a good galleon for the article. "I wish Dumbledore would have let us use the flue system to get into the school" complained Gwen dragging her feet threw the snow. "Suck it up Gwen, we are almost there.. its not that long of walk" Adeline reassured her while adjusting her backpack. After a few mins of silence, Adeline had finely spoke

 "Do you think Ivan is gonna hate me for leaving him behind with Igor" Adeline had asked Gwendolyn, coming to complete stop. "You where gone for almost a month.. I don't think he will hate you just for that" Gwendolyn had told Adeline stopping right next to her. "Trust me.. Ivan can Hold a grudge" Adeline had responded back. "Not as bad as Cedric.. ever since I was adopted by his parents, he claims that I took everything away from him" Gwen said with a concern in her voice... Gwen was taken in by the Diggory's, after her parents where killed by Voldemort shortly before harry potter's parents where killed. Her parents where very close with the Diggory's and they had took her in, knowing her parents would do the same thing with Cedric. 

 "Cedric has his own problems" She muttered under her breath. Adeline hit Gwen's back due to Cedric walking towards them. Ivan ran in front of him to give Adeline a hug. "Addyyyy" Yelled ivan, running up to Adeline, hugging her as tight as his 11 year old arm strength would let him. "Ivan, you have gotten taller" she told her brother. she stepped  away to get a better look at him. He was about to her shoulders now, after all Adeline was just 5'6 after all. "Viktor has been taking care of me, Since Father has been disappearing again and i have been hanging out with Cedric" Ivan told Adeline. Adeline gave a small sigh. "Of course, up to his antic tics again" Adeline had told Ivan, knowing that has always made Ivan upset. He never knew their mother... all he has known; was their so called loving father. Adeline doesn't have the heart to tell him the truth about their father. "Lets go to the three broom sticks, i am craving a butter beer. I haven't had it in a very long time" Gwendolyn told everyone. "You Are always hungry" stated Cedric. The truth was, she was trying to derail the conversation.

 They had arrived to the three broomsticks and found a table that was far away from others.  "Been keeping up on your course work" Adeline had asked Ivan as they had all sat down, "Well i have been trying to but father has me following Viktor around when he is training for the task" ivan had responded back. "Of course, what's there second task" Adeline had asked. "from what i know, its going to be in the black lake" said Cedric. "Merpeople" Adeline quickly said. "Did you say merpeople" asked Cedric. "I think she did" said Gwen nervously. "we weren't  told that there where merpeople in the black lake" stated Cedric really nervously. "Hogwarts has a lot of secrets.. better then back home" Ivan excitingly responded. Everyone at the table looked at Ivan, they where socked on what he said. "Ivan, how about you go order us some butter beer" stated Adeline, digging threw her pocket to get ivan the gallons that he need. Adeline sat the money in front of her brother. Ivan scooped up the money. "Im on it" he stated, getting up from the table.

"The merpeople, live peacefully in the black lake. They are know as the tribe of Selkies. Dumbledore must have asked them for help during the tri-wizard Tournament" Adeline had told Gwen and Cedric who sat directly across from her. "Why would the old man do that" Asked Gwen, in confusion. "They may want to make the task harder.. to give us a challange due to Harry Being in the tri-wizard cup" Stated Cedric. "I dont belive that t hey would do that to Harry Potter.... that boy took down he-should-not-be-named at the age of 1" Adeline responded. For some reason she was defending The boy who lived... who she hardly knew. "that maybe true, but there is something going on here and i don't like it" Cedric responded back. Before anyone could respond to what Cedric had just said Ivan had finally returned with the butterbeers.

"I have returned with our Butter beers" Ivan said happily setting down their tray of drinks down softly; taking a sit next to his sister. "what did i miss" asked Ivan, scooting his dink closer to himself. "Well your lovely old sister just solved our little mystery on what lays in the Black lake" Cedric had responded to Ivan. "That is brilliant  Addy, we have been trying to figure it out after Alastor moody told Cedric to go under water with the Golden egg and open it" Ivan said happily before taking a giant gulp of his butter beer.  "I forgot that the Alastor moody was here at Hogwarts" Adeline commented. "Trust me, but something seems a little bit of with professor moody" Responded Cedric. "If i recall, most the dark arts professor's Hogwarts has had have been a little off" Gwen added.  "This one seems like he is really lost" Commented Cedric...               They all should have listened to Cedric....
