The Heart of Durmstrang

22: everything is changing

Adeline sat alone in a empty corridor, with a few hours to spare before she had make her way to the quidditch pitch for the final task of the tri-wizard tournament. She had a lot on her mind; what was the next step in finding out what was her mom hiding.  She had her notes scattered next to her on the stone bench, each paper had hand full of notes about Grindelwald but not one gave her clues. Foot steps came closer to her, the louder they go, the more nervous she had gotten. She tapped her wand on papers and they had began to slide into her copy of history of magic. "I was hoping to run into alone" said a mans voice. Adeline had turned her head and it was Moody. "Excuse me sir, but what do you mean about you mean by you where hopefully going to run into me alone" she had questioned moody, holding her wand behind her back. "Never mind that, but how does it feel being related to the Darkest wizard in the world" he had asked Adeline. Adeline had not answered.. how does he know.. "how do you know" she questioned Moody. "It doesn't matter how i know, but you have great potential and you have many eyes on you child." moody told Adeline. he moved closer and seemed like he flicked his tongue... "Of course sir, after all i am the Childhood friend of Viktor Krum. I've been in the spot light for awhile" She told moody, franticly picking up her book from the bench. "Now if you dont mind, i must get to the task" she added. she began to walk away. "He will pay when he returns" Moddy told Adeline. She had ignored moody and continued to walk away.

After a thirty minute walk, Adeline had finally made it to the quidditch tower where Viktor was getting himself ready for the final task. Adeline pushed the curtain away to see her little brother sitting on the floor while Viktor paced back and fourth. "I think Something is about to happen" Adeline stated walking into the room and threw her book on a stand alone table as the curtain went back to its standing position. "What do you mean addy" asked Ivan standing up from the spot he was sitting. "Hey Ivan.. do you wanna go grab me a butter beer from the vendor" Viktor told Ivan, digging in his pocket to grab some change to give to him. "Sure I guess" ivan told viktor. He walked over to Viktor and grabbed the change from his hand and went on his way.
"What do you mean Adeline. By something bad is about to happen" Viktor asked Adeline, moving himself closer to her. "My father has been acting weird since Christmas and now... i just had moody come to me" she told Viktor panicking.. Her mind was going 1000 miles per hour trying to Figure everything out. "Do you think he is back to his old ways" he asked Adeline. trying to figure out what was going on. "He may but that means it is not safe for Ivan to be with him until we understand what is going on with my father" Adeline had responded to Viktor. "How have you kept that your guys father was once a death eater" Viktor had Questioned Adeline. "I has been very hard to be truthful" She had reponed. Viktor hugged Adeline all of the sudden causing her to be in a bit of shock. "Ill help you tell ivan about your father when the time come and you are ready" He had told Adeline, pushing away from the hug and looked into her eyes. "You don't have to get involved in this mess Viktor, you already have a lot on your plate" Adeline had told viktor with a wide smile on her face. "now we should probably get you and Ivan up in the stands to watch me complete this task" Viktor had chuckled to Adeline. "Sure" she laughed back at viktor.

Adeline and Ivan had sat next to Gwendolyn in the stands to watching the final task, even though they could hardly see what was going on. Viktor had already been in the giant maze for almost two hours. "Its taking them quite a bit for them to come back" Gwen had told Adeline. "Don't worry, Viktor and Cedric will come out just fine" Adeline had told Gwen. "The are great wizards" she had added. "Cedric gets a big head some times and this may be one of those days" Gwen had told Adeline with a chuckle. Ivan tugged on Adelines "Hey Adeline.. Something is happing" Ivan had told his sister. Adeline stood up like everyone in the stands had did. Harry Potter had returned to the quidditch pitch, but not alone. His own body was covering something that had a hint of yellow. "Hey Ivan stay here.. I will come back for you an-" Before Adeline could stop Gwen had let out a heart breaking scream. "Cedric... That's cedric" She had said with the panic in her voice and to began to run down from the sl.

Adeline and Gwen had rushed down on the field before they had made it to the boys that where in the middle of the field. The Diggory's had stopped them, to catch Gwen before she had to see her Brothers cold body. "Cedric has been killed" Mr.Diggory had told Gwen. Gwen broke down and Mrs.Diggory hugged Gwen tight as she cried. "Adeline, Dumbledore would like to speak to you.. " he added. Adeline had left Gwen alone with her family during this hard time, as she got to Dumbledore her heart began to drop.. Has something happened to Viktor and she was about to get the second worse news of her life. Dumbledore was talking to madam Maxime and to the other Hogwarts professor, Her father was no where to be seen. "Dumbledore" she nervously said. Dumbledore turned around and gave a sadden simile to Adeline.
"My dear, A tragic thing has just happened. please take Ivan and yourself to Mr.Krum. He is in the hospital wing recovering from being knocked out by a spell.. ill be there soon to explain everything." Dumbledore had told Adeline with sadness in his voice.

Adeline and Ivan sat next to viktor, who was now sitting up and chatting like normal. Even though he was knocked unconscious for about a hour. "So one of the Hogwarts champions was killed and Harry Potter had won" he asked. "That is correct" Adeline responded back. Ivan sat next to her, swinging his feet looking down at the ground. "How is Your friend Gwen doing" he asked. "I don't know, Dumbledore had us come straight up to you" Adeline told  Viktor. "Grandpa Albus seemed Scared" Ivan had finally said after being quite for a while. "He has a lot on his plate Ivan, I would be scared" Adeline told Her little brother. Before Ivan could respond back, The Hospital wing doors had swung open and Dumbledore had walked into the room and towards them. When he had gotten to them he pulled a chair closer to them and sat on the other side of the hospital bed.

"As you may of saw.. Cedric Diggory was murdered" Dumbledore told them. "Voldemort had returned and took his life. You both may be wondering where you both come into this Event"
Adeline heart dropped for a second time today .. is this the time before Ivan finally finds out the truth. "Dumbledore.. He doesn't know about our father" Adeline quickly said with a out burst. "What Do you mean i don't know about father, i know him" Ivan exclaimed. "Go ahead Adeline" Dumbledore told Adeline with reinsurance.
Adeline took a deep breath and began. "Before you were born, our father was a very bad man. He was working with The dark lord as a death eater. He was one before he had meet our mother" Adeline told Ivan. His face dropped. "Our dad did no such things" He exclaimed to his sister with panic in his voice. "It's sadly the truth, when i was 5.. he was Sent to Azkaban. The only reason why he was let out; he had ratted out other death eaters" she told her little brother. "Its always been You and I against this world, nothing will change that Ivan" she told her brother. Both of them stayed silent for a while and Dumbledore took that as his que to talk.

"Your father has disappeared and can not be found.. i believe he is now on the run from Voldemort" Dumbledore had told the both of them. "Snape had came to me and told me that Igor had came to him saying that his mark was getting brighter again and no longer faded" he added. "Of course.. that explains everything. Why he has been tense all year " Adeline had told Dumbledore. Ivan Stayed silent, due to the information they had just laid upon him. "That is correct" Dumbledore had responded. "As Ivan Next of kin, you must choose where Ivan continues his studies Adeline.. as i recall the younger you had always disliked going Durmstrang" Dumbledore had told Adeline with a twinkle in his eye. "That is correct, i did dislike going to Durmstrang. He should come her to Hogwarts. Its safe here with him here, he will have you here after all Grandfather" Adeline had told Dumbledore with a smile on her face look at ivan. "Hear that buddy, your brain wont be pumped with the dark arts like ours was" Viktor said jokingly ruffling Ivan's hair.
Dumbledore had sat Adeline down the next day to talk about what had fully happened that night. How Barty crouch jr. Had used polyjuice potion to impersonate Moody to get close to Harry potter. After Adeline was caught up on the situation that had happened. Dumbledore had invited them to stay at grimwald place for there safety.

Four days had passed since Cedric was killed and it had changed the atmosphere within Hogwarts. Adeline and Viktor had removed Ivan's things from the ship they had arrived on. "Where are Ivan and you going to stay since you are no longer going to live with Gwen" Viktor had asked as they where making their way back up to the castle with Ivans things. "Dumbledore had invited us to stay at a safe house in London" Adeline responded to Viktor. "You both could always come live with me, i have just bought a home In Surry" Viktor had told Adeline. "Thanks for the offer Viktor, but this decision was made to Protect us from who must not be named" she told Viktor. He gave her a smile. " And plus it probably wouldn't hardly be home with all the Quidditch games" he chuckled. "Ivan and I would come and visit you during the holidays. I promise"  Adeline had happily told viktor.
