Chapter 23 ✔️

Upon waking up, I remembered that today was Em's last day in Seoul and Seongwoo had wanted me to see him today. I sighed, knowing that something was bound to come in my way. I was eating breakfast, when I had received a message. It was Nathan.

Nathan: can we meet today? There is something important I need to tell you.

I sighed. Of course, I would need to see Nathan on the day that I wanted to see Seongwoo.  I instantly felt bad. It wasn't Nathan's fault, so who was I to blame him? I would just have to deal with how things were. I quickly got dressed and went to meet him. He had told me to go to the park that was near my house. I had spotted him right away, and I went towards him. "Hey." I greeted him with a smile.

"Hi." He seemed a bit nervous, which put me on edge. "I know I called you because I have something to tell you, but can we hang out first?"

"Sure." I agreed, not knowing what else to say. Nathan and I 'hung out' as he wanted and we talked about all sorts of things. Yet, there were moments where our conversation would drift off leaving us in an awkward silence. Finally he looked at me, and I was taken aback by the firmness in his eyes. "As you know, there is a day where we have to go back to Erilea." My heart sank at his words. I didn't want to think about that, about having to leave Seongwoo. I didn't know how I was going to do that. I didn't know what I would do.

"The day for me to go back has arrived." I looked at him, realizing what he was saying.

"You're going back? So soon?"

"Yes. I know it is selfish of me but I wanted us to go back together." His cheeks flushed pink after saying so, and a stab of guilt filled me. "But it doesn't matter, because we'll be able to see each other soon."

Not trusting myself to speak, I just nodded. "I will be going back in an hour and a half. I wanted to spend some time with you before I left. I know we will see each other soon, and I cannot wait for that day."

I only smiled at him, not wanting to say anything that would be a lie. "I hope you reach Erilea safely. And thank you... for the time you have spent with me." I looked away.

"No, thank you Lilliana. I shall look forward to the day we shall meet again, but right now, I have to go."

"Oh. I hope you arrive safely." I repeated the words I had already said, not knowing what else to say. Just when I thought he was going, Nathan did something I had not expected. He leaned closer to me and lightly kissed my cheek. He immediately turned pink after doing so, and avoided eye contact. I was still in shock,  even when he told me he was going. I nodded and watched him get into a car, and watched the car drive away.

I tried to brush what Nathan did away, focusing on Seongwoo. Seongwoo was my boyfriend not Nathan; time spent with Nathan shouldn't matter to me, it was Seongwoo who I cared about. Even so, I still couldn't forget about it. Get a grip Lilliana. Seongwoo is the one you care about. I shook my head, knowing I was right. I checked the time, and saw that I still had a bit of time before I was meant to see Seongwoo so I thought I'd go see Em. I messaged her to find out if she was awake.

Em: Yep, I'm awake. Just at home. 
Me: I'm coming over to see you.
Em: okay! I'll see you soon:))

I smiled to myself and walked in the direction to her house. I knew I was going to miss her so much. I hoped she'd be okay. I was worried about her, but I also wanted her to be happy.

I knocked twice in the door, before I was met with her smiling face. We hugged each other for a while, and then she welcomed me inside.

"Sorry about all this mess." She said whilst pointing at the boxes on the floor.
