I need to tell Zane that I won't be coming to our practice this evening.

I know we've been lacking with our training but I really wanted to meet someone in person. This guy I met online a while ago asked me to meet up. I've known him for a while now and shared video calls with him.

In other words, he was my bestfriend. My only one at that. I'd tell him everything of what had happened in my daily basis and he'd comfort me whenever I needed it.

I pulled out my phone and searched for Zane's phone number. Since we barely chat with each other, it was hard finding his number. He's practically one of the bottom ones so I had to scroll down fast.

Bzzzm.

"Oh? He's calling me instead?"

I picked up his call and noticed that he was silent for a moment.

"Um, Zane? Do you need something?"

"I called you because I had a feeling you might cancel today's training."

"Oh! Your senses are good. I did want to call you because of that. I have. . .a meeting I need to attend to."

"Is that so? Well then, I hope everything goes well. Have a nice day, Y/n."

"Thank you Zane! I'll do extra hours next time!"

"*chuckle* Don't worry about that. I don't think it's necessarily for us to do extra hours. Now then, goodbye, Y/n."

"Bye bye, Zane."

Zane hung up and I was rolling around my bed as I heard him chuckle over the phone.

I'd like to chat with him more but he makes it so hard for me to even send him a message! He's so unpredictable almost all of the time. I'm curious of him. It's like his reactions aren't even human.

I shook my head from thinking any further. I stood up from my bed and got myself ready for the meet-up. He said he was going to bring along his girlfriend.

Ah, now I'm even more jealous! I went to a park with my ex full of lovers and now a meet-up with my online bestfriend who's also going to bring his girlfriend along.

Oh well, I hope she's nice and caring just like him.

I waited inside a fastfood restaurant. It was originally made for partners but no one really cared for what it was made for.

The view was amazing. That's what mattered for this meeting.

"I can't wait to meet her! I bet she's so sweet!"

"Well, she is sweet but a little depressed sometimes."

I turned to the people making their way to my table and prepared myself to greet them.

'His girlfriend is so. . .freaking cute!"

I waved at them with a welcoming smile as they too smiled in return.

"Y/n! Woah, you look much more different than from video call."

"The power of make-up I guess."

He and I laughed until I felt the presence of the girl slightly go uncomfortable.

"My name is Y/n! Nice to finally meet your acquaintance!"

I rushly took her hand and shook them. She was a bit hesitant but she glady accepted my sudden introduction.

"My name is Cristy. It's nice to finally meet you too."

Her voice was so adorable and her personality was extremely shy. I can't even begin where start talking after getting to know her personality in person.

She's just. . .perfect.

"Awe, you're so cute! Your cheeks look so squishy that I wanna squeeze them! I bet you like sweets too~"

Cristy giggled a little bit and nodded at my guess.

"I bake for a living of course."

She started to open up to me and sat down on the table. I and Karl did the same and began to look through the menu list.

"Ou. . .I really need to go to the bathroom. Can you order me number 36, Karl? I'll be back."

Karl hummed and continued to look through the menu list. I had a hard time picking a menu for myself and although I was glad to come here, I also felt so lonely.

"Is Chris finally leaving you in peace?"

I suddenly jumped from hearing his name. I hid my face behind the menu paper and thought about what to say.

"Well, he's still messaging me for forgiveness and knocking on my door daily."

"Why don't you just call the police on him?"

"I-

Ping

I took my phone out of my bag and scrolled down to see a message from Zane. My face slightly reddened and tapped on our chat.

Are you perhaps in a fastfood restaurant?

Hold on. . .how did he know? I never told him about where I'm going to.

Erm. . .yes I am. Why do you ask?

Look to your right.

I was hesitating but I did as he said. My set pair of eyes was met with cyan ones.

"Zane. . .?"

His expression was colder than usual but they were not because of me.

They were for Karl.

He excused himself from his red-head friend and walked up to my table.

His eyes were fixated on me with a sweet smile.

"Y/n, I didn't know you were heading here with. . .your date?"

"HUH?"

Karl immediately interrupted as he waved his hand in false judgment.

"Bro, no! Y/n is my bestfriend! My girlfriend went to the bathroom."

"Oh, my deepest apologies. I hope I didn't make the mood too gloomy around you. Make sure Y/n doesn't drink much, bro."

Zane left before quickly sending me a smile while heading back to his group.

I was beyond stunned.

Why was he so protective of me? Was is because drinking might effect my stability for ice skating? No, that only happens when the person is drunk while skating.

Either way, I felt slightly better now. The fact that Zane approached and cared about me like that. But why was he so cold towards Karl?

"Man. . .who was he? Your teacher or something?"

"No, he's my ice skating partner."

"Damn, you caught a good one. Good-looking, smart, a straightforward guy and looks like a professional."

"Zane is a World Figure Skating Championships!"

"I didn't know, man! Don't shout at me like that!"
