You awaken to the soft sound of birds calling to you in their sing-song voices. Beside you, Kat is sitting up, propped against the pillows, smacking her face with a giant, sort-of-orange beauty blender. All around her, eyeshadow palettes and brushes and eyeliner pencils roll and get lost in the sheets.

"How else do you expect me to look dewy in the morning?" says Kat, before you can say anything else. "Mind you, it has SPF in it."

You grab your pillow and cover your own head with it forcefully.

"God, you're just like Suresh," groans Kat. "Get up! I promise, you'll far enjoy being a morning person. You'll get the first cup of coffee. You can even shower while the others are still in full blown REM sleep."

With a laugh, you pull yourself up and lean against the pillows, beside Kat. You rub your eyes sleepily and blink back yesterday's mascara. When your eyes return to focus, you have to admit... it is awfully nice, the way the breeze feels a little cold, and the way the air is still warm.

"So you slept on it," Kat says decisively. "What's on your mind now? Alfie or Eddie?"

You sigh.

"On one hand, Alfie is quite the opposite of Suresh," you say, and you can't help but smile. "He seems kind, considerate. But we don't know each other that well. I guess I don't know if I feel a spark."

"Remember, babe," says Kat. "You're not going to know any of us as well as you know Suresh, so you'll have to abandon that feeling if you want to feel the fanny flutters."

You blink at her, not quite knowing what to say.

"I think I need a coffee," you say.

"But what about Eddie?" Kat asks. "You haven't gotten to the other hand yet."

"And on the other hand, Eddie is hot," you say. "But he isn't my type at all. A model, clearly a little bit..."

"Stunted," says Kat decisively.

"I just don't know about it," you say with a laugh. "There's a spark, and he's... yeah, fanny flutters, alright? But just because I want to get into bed with him doesn't mean I want to spend my life with him."

Kat glances at you.

"You mentioned being open to more than just them two, though," she says, smacking makeup against her chin. "What about Dana?"

You exhale.

"I think I'd love the chance to couple up with a girl," you say. "But I don't think that girl is Dana."

Kat nods knowingly.

"But I can see myself with a woman," you say. "Someone strong. Independent. Different from these guys, you know? I mean. I love that they love their families and their hobbies and their jobs but..."
