Twenty years from today since Meredith last saw Nick. The last time she saw him was fifteen years ago, losing hope that she will see him again.She finally accepted the fact that this time he really left and will never come back.
She was in a plane crash and expected a word from her best friend but no,not even a simple 'how are you?'.She won an Harper Avery, she was expecting a 'congratulations' from him but no, she was in a turbulence and almost died but he didn't even bother on asking how she was, she broke the hospital's record for doing the longest hour of surgery and was expecting an encouraging words from him but no, nothing.
Well it's not like she wanted him to always congratulate her on every accomplishment she made, it's just ...she wanted him to at least let her know that he's still looking after her even though they are miles apart.
Meredith was woken up by someone knocking at the desk.
"Good morning!"
"Alex" Meredith mumbled looking up at him sleepily
"You slept in the lab, that's your thing now?" Alex chuckled handing her a cup of coffee
"Thank you" she replied, smiling genuinely at him "Well,no I mean I'm working on something and I guess fell asleep"
"Hmm, another research?" Alex asked sitting across Meredith's table
"Yes,but I still need to finalize some details" Meredith answered, before taking a sip of her coffee "How's Jo and the twins?" Meredith asked
"They're doing good actually, Alexis had a stomach ache yesterday and refuses to go to daycare so I let him stayed at home with Jo and his younger sister Brooke" Alex said with a sighs, smiling at the thought of his family.Alexis and Brooke are 5 years old, Alexis is 12 minutes older than Brooke.
"Hmm, I can imagine how stubborn your son can be" Meredith chuckled
"I could tell you the same thing" Alex chuckled "Your future kids will be as stubborn as you are"
"I'm not stubborn!" Meredith protested but can't help but laugh at her best friend
They kept talking until they heard the door opened
"Uh Dr Grey?" they heard someone walking in
"Dr Deluca, need something?" Meredith asked, turning her chair to look at her colleague's direction
"I need a general consultation with my patients It seems like an abdominal aneurysm, can you confirm it and maybe do the surgery?" Andrew said walking closer towards the table, handing Meredith the tablet
"You said you were trained in general surgery why do you need a consult?" Alex asked him
As Meredith took the tablet from him her eyes widened slightly, surprised by what she just saw
"On-call room in 5"
That's what she saw, that's what was written on the tablet.
"Okay,Dr Deluca her labs are questioning so maybe I'll do an ultrasound to make the diagnosis myself" Meredith said closing the tablet
"Okay" Andrew nodded, trying not to show his obvious smile.
They both casually walked out of the lav making their way to the nearest nurse's station to drop off the tablet casually before walking towards to nearest on call room making sure no one saw them.
Andrew immediately pulled her into a kiss, feeling the warmth of her body pressed against his as he pulled her body closer to his by waits.
"I missed you" he whispered, as they rested their forehead against each other, feeling how Meredith rested her hand on his waist "You didn't come home last night" he added
"Were you waiting for me?" she asked slightly, feeling how she automatically smiled as he left a soft kiss on her lips
"Hmm, I was" Andrew admitted "I had to cuddle your pillow last night because you weren't there" he added, making Meredith chuckle slightly
"I'm sorry... I'll be home tonight" Meredith said smiling
"Promise?" Andrew wanted to know
"Promise" Meredith nodded as thet shared a kiss again
"I love you" he whispered
"I love you two" she replied before sharing another kiss, this time with more passion and full of love.
Questioning why they were in a call room and shared a loving kiss there?
It's because no one in the hospital knows about their relationship,no one.
Not even Alex,nor the chief of surgery Dr Miranda Bailey.
They wanted to keep their relationship in private after what happened with Meredith and Derek,back her intern year. Derek was a resident and Meredith was an intern,they were together for 3 years and married for 2 years,they were happy,and had a healthy relationship before Derek cheated on Meredith, had an accident was hitted by a semi and died.
Every single staff of the hospital about Derek cheating on Meredith with a woman whom he was with at Grey Sloan once,but no one said anything about it since they knew how powerful Derek was since he owns a big part of the hospital and technically can fire them.
Meredith and Andrew have been together for 4 years, Andrew was a peds surgeon from Italy. He started to court Meredith on their 3rd day as an attending,and she said yes to him the day of valentines day the next year,he patiently waited for her answer for nine months, knowing how worth the waiting she was.
