Five months had passed
Meredith is laying on her side of her bed, next to her is empty beside.
"Mer...." she heard Amelia knocking on the door
"Yeah?" she replied
"Can I come in?" Amelia asked softly
"Ye-yeah" Meredith answered shortly sitting up straight, leaning against the head board
"You ready for work?" Amelia asked sitting on the edge of the bed
"Yeah,give me 15 minutes" Meredith answered trying to form a small smile before getting up
"I'll make breakfast" Amelia said watching Meredith disappear in the bathroom
The past four months, Meredith spent her time doing therapy after what happened.
"Mer,you have to eat something" Alex said looking at his best friend almost pleadingly
"I can't eat..." Meredith said flatly,black circles were under her eyes
"You haven't eaten in three days" Alex said
"I'm not hungry" she said, staring at the hospital ceiling
"Andrew wouldn't want you t-"
"Andrew is dead .... you don't know what he would want!" Meredith snapped unintentionally
"I-im sorry" Alex sighs
Meredith is currently inside the attendings lounge changing into some scrubs as Nick walked in
"Hi, good morning" he greeted, smiling
"Morning" she replied smiling as well as she was fixing her coat
"We have surgery together today..." he then stated standing next to her by the closet
"Yeah..." she sighs
All of a sudden, he hugged her as tight as possible taking her by surprised
He was in Minnesota the past three months and barely see Meredith at the hospital since she was mostly doing therapy.
"Nick..." she stated,not sure what to do
"I thought I'd lost you" he whispered, tightening his embrace "Don't ever scare me like that again...okay"
"Okay..." she answered, smiling slightly to herself at how worried he was
"I love you..." he whispered closing his eyes, still hugging her "I'm not taking it back this time..." he added feeling her hands wandering on his back, hugging him back
"I love you too" she then replied, making him pull away, as she took him by surprised
"W-... what?" he asked, as if he didn't hear her
"I love you too,Nick" she repeated looking at his eyes "But I'm not ready..." she added "I don't know if I can be in a relationship right now"
"I.. I can wait.. till you're ready" he answered determinedly "I'll wait for you... I don't care how long but I'll wait"
"Nick..." Meredith sighed not sure what to reply after hearing his response
"Please... give me a chance" he stated
"I want to start over again" she responds
"So do I... with you" he continued
"I wish I never had met you..." she said as their eyes met "I wish you never came back"
"W-what are you talking about?" he chuckled slightly not sure what's she's trying to imply
"Because if you didn't come back... there's no need to want you again..." she added "no need for loving and needing you...no need for acting like I don't care even if I do..."
He went silent... couldn't form a single word after hearing those words from her.
"So if I decided to give up on you... you need to understand it took me my whole life and it took everything that was inside of me to do that... to finally do that" she added
"What are you saying?"
"I loved you more than anything... I love you more that any men I had been with" she admitted "I have moved on from you...it took me a long time to finally accept it, to finally accept that you're never gonna be mine, but now that you're back again... when I see you again for the first time in 20 years all the feelings I pushed aside came back... when I talked to you I felt like I was cheating on Andrew cause no matter how hard I tried to convince myself that I'm over you..." she paused "I was never over you" ..... "I'm scared as hell to want you again" she admitted, pausing for a a little while as small tears were streaming down her cheeks "Because I knew very well that I'd be with you this time... I'd say yes to you in no time... theb you'll leave me again so I wish you never came back"
He didn't say anything and just pulled her in connecting his lips to hers, pulling her body closer to his bt waist.
All their feelings from decades ago came rushing like adrenaline through their body,the feeling of excitement, fluttered feeling in their stomach which most people call butterfly.
"I won't leave you again... I promise" Nick sniffed, resting his forehead against hers
"You better not" she added making him chuckle, tears were rolling down her cheeks "I love you, Nick"
"I love you more, Meredith"
