The candle wick flickered and trembled just like the goddess of magic's heart. She didn't try to cover the flame of the candle to shield it from dying down. The night was quiet without any wind yet the flame trembled ominously making her shadow shiver like her soul. She knew that the candle flame flickered due to an incoming storm that'd destroy and shatter everything that she had treasured until now! She bit her lip in frustration because the flickering of candles never lie. Last time she ignored such warning she.......
She sighed.
"Any leads?" She asked her devoted servant who was waiting at the threshold of her chamber.
"No my goddess." Isis banged the table in irritation making her servant flinch. Of all times, why did her son have to run away now? She dismissed the servant not before ordering her to search even more thoroughly, leave no stone or sand unturned.
"Where are you Horus...." At sound of light steps outside the curtain of her chamber, Isis didn't bother to change her facade and spoke; "Today I don't need your services, Nephthys. You may go." She covered her eyes with her arms and leaned back at the chair. However when she removed her hand from her eyes and opened them, someone was hunched over her with a grinning bright red lips. Isis gasped as she tried to sit up and on her hurry both she and the intruder banged their head together earning an unison "ouch!". Isis ignored the pain on her forehead as she got ready in an attacking stance with her dark fire ball until she noticed who the intruder was.
"You! What are you doing here?"
In reply the intruder simply cackled. Her canines gleamed cunningly in the candle light.
"Why hello to you too and a very good evening Isis~! What a wonderful evening, isn't it?" She spread her hands and took a deep breath, a smile playing on her red lips as she spoke whilst looking at the candles in the room. "Such was the evening that day as well...oh my!" She jumped as soon as she finished her sentence to avoid a dark fire ball that thrown at her by an utterly irritated Isis. The two women stared at each other with their shadows dancing in an ugly manner on the wall as one of them reminded the other of the ugly day that tainted her very heart and soul.
"Are you here to spew nonsense?" Isis gritted her teeth.
"Nonsense? Hah!" scoffed the other one. "What I say is truth but oh well, when was truth ever honored? Neither among the humans nor among the gods!"
"Are you done? If so, then leave I want to rest as I have a throbbing headache."
"Oh~let me guess~" she tapped her chin playfully with a pout on her red lips. "Is the reason of your headache, a certain red haired handsome man?...oops!" She dodged another unsuccessful dark fire ball. "Well well~it seems like I was right!"
"What are you planning, Sekhmet?" Isis glared at the Lion head-wear woman.
"Oh~nothing at all~!" Sekhmet skipped around. "Just planning to visit my lil' entertainer, who'd entertain me after all these boring peaceful years."
"Don't stir the stagnant water anymore, Sekhmet!" This made the other woman giggle."And who is going to stop me? You Isis?" With a full blown laughter, the cunning goddess leapt on the window sill and before she jumped off she whispered audibly; "Enhance and spread your magic Isis. You will find what you seek. Good Night!"
"Sekhmet!" Isis couldn't stand anymore. She collapsed on the floor of her chamber. Her kohl covered eyes looked at the ominous candles whose flame did not flicker anymore but that didn't calm her throbbing head and palpitating heart. With one wave of her hand, the candle-wicks trembled and in the next moment, her entire chamber submerged into darkness. She sat at the middle of it like some lonesome existence, however, this time she neither cried her heart out nor did she bang the floor out of betrayal, even her sister-in-law Nephthys isn't here shedding out tears of guilt. Isis corrected her posture whispered something and closed her eyes. For the first time, she allowed herself to follow the advice of the goddess of war.
She closed her eyes and allowed her magic to sweep her consciousness far far away.
