A black robe clad lady entered her son's room to tend him and check upon him to see if her beloved offspring is doing alright. Ever since...ever since the great struggle took place in the underworld...her son had become even more distant from her. Surely he did not escape from his monarchical duties anymore rather he did them diligently and Egypt has prospered as ever. But looking at her son, as a mother, Isis could feel that his eyes were hollow as if he has lost his purpose and will to live anymore. He talked less though he wasn't much of a talker but now he even talk much less than before, if he didn't talk his presence wouldn't have been known.
Neither he nor her husband Osiris would tell what had actually happened in the underworld that had created such a deep impact in the entire Egypt, as well as among the other Gods. However, Isis has a hunch about what has happened but as always, she didn't disclose anything about it to anyone. An unsettling peace existed among them which felt like a calm before the storm-Isis shook her head to get rid of her negative thoughts.
Though Isis didn't quite like the idea but upon the insistence of her mother Nut, she consulted the sun god Ra about her son. She had presumed that probably this time too, the superior god wouldn't help her out as she did not during the former's difficult times, surprisingly the sun god took into consideration of the matter, thought about it for a bit, leaving a gaping Isis, and then provided a solution.
As she entered into the designated room where her son sat in the Egyptian traditional bridegroom wear, Isis unknowingly heaved a sigh of relief. Horus sat on a chair, lifeless like usual, his eyes looking outside of the window. His gaze reflecting that of a caged bird yearning for salvation or freedom. Isis' chest rumbled as tears filled at the corner of her eyes. She bit her lips as she steadied herself mentally-no! She won't be weak anymore! This is for the sake of Horus, her son!
Her light footsteps did not extract any reaction from the deep thinker. He continued to stare at the sky aimlessly.
"It's almost time, son. You'll be called any minute, alright?" He simply nodded at his mother's words.
When his mother's footsteps disappeared elsewhere, the falcon perked his senses once again and tried to feel the sensation that was mulling upon before his mother interrupted. After few minutes of trying, he finally got hold of that sensation again-this time even more clearly.
In the big hall of the Egyptian palace, all arrangements were complete. The guests have already started to fill in-tables were served abundantly, drinks and foods flowed in smoothly.
Finally when it was time of ceremony, a loud screech interrupted the joyous moment, sparked a cunning smile on a bored Ra's lips as she straightened her posture to watch the drama unfold in front of her, the forced non-anxious smile of Isis turned into an anxious one as she feared for the worst, the guests froze and before anybody could say anything, Isis ran to the direction from where the screech came from.
When she followed the source of screech, tears sprang up in her eyes as her utmost fear might had become true. When she reached the the place she dreaded the most, she saw her servant trembling in fear. Upon feeling the presence of the goddess, the trembling servant looked up to the wide eyed deity who was staring at a lone falcon wing that sat down the window of the room.
"HORUS!"
