Solcia POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Name please."
"Solcia Hasselblatt."
"Grade please."
"10th"
"Here is your schedule!"
"Thanks."
Wow that lady is really perky. I can't believe I'm in 10th grade. I'm supposed to be in 9th because I'm still 15 but it doesn't really matter here. In case you can't tell, my name is Solcia Hasselblatt. I have 20 minutes until I have to go to class so I take a look at my schedule.
P1~ Algebra II
P2~ English
P3~ Spanish
~lunch~
P4~ Orchestra~ Symphonic
P5~ Civics
P6~ Chorus~ Bella Canta
P7~ Science
Ugh I don't like having algebra. I had it 2 years ago and it was okay, but I mean seriously, algebra. But I was in school, so I would have to do some type of work. The rest of my schedule was great but I have to make sure I wash my hands after lunch. I'm so excited that I got put in Symphonic Orchestra! I play violin. I've been playing for 6 years. In chorus, I'm an alto for 2-part splits, soprano 2 for 3-part splits. And Spanish, I'm good in it. Well, I was good in all my classes. I had straight A's throughout all my school years. How? Even I can't tell you. I'm a really good guesser though, so that helps. It really is weird though, because I don't even remember knowing all this stuff. And, to top it off, I never study. Sometimes it's like I feel a pull to the right answer. Weird, I know. Buts it's true! My gut feelings are always corrects. One time in English, I was answering this problem and I was like 'I feel like it's C but I think A might maybe make more sense so I'm going to put A.' Needless to say, my mind was wrong and my gut was right because it ended up being C. Isn't your mind supposed to help you make the right decisions? Anyway, I still have good grades so I don't think about it to much.
I decided to go find all my friends. We all just moved here (Orlando, FL) during summer. So far, they are my only friends here, of course. We have known each other since about 7th grade. It was me, Willow, Cara, Cara's boyfriend Gabe, and Cara's sister Hera.
Hera is 1 grade ahead of us, but we still all hang out. I started walking to the library when I found Willow in the courtyard. Willow was one of my best friends. She had wavy blonde hair that went down to her elbows and blue eyes.
"Hey! Have you gotten you're schedule yet?"
"Hey Solcia! Ya I have Algebra II, art, Spanish, lunch, PE, civics, English and science."
"Cool! I have Algebra, Spanish, civics, and science with you! Have you seen Cara, Hera, or Gabe?"
"No, but you'll probably find them all together. So what orchestra did you get put into?"
"Symphonic."
"See! I told you that you would get put in!"
"Ya ya, whatever. I'm probably gonna be put in the middle of second violins anyway."
"No you would not! You play soooo good!"
"Okay, whatever you say. So what do you think of the school so far?" I don't know why, but I feel something weird about this school. Well, not really the actual school, but the people in it. I'm probably just nervous.
"I think it's good so far. I can't really say, I've only been here for like, 20 minutes. What do you think?"
"I think it's okay." I lied. Something definitely felt off. I felt somebody staring at me but when I looked over my shoulder, there wasn't anybody looking at me. I did see a group of people though. They were pale, like really pale. They seemed to keep their distance from other people. One guy had black hair and was holding hands with a girl who had light brown hair. I'm guessing they are dating. Then there was another guy there with hazel hair. They all had gold eyes. Contacts I guess. I started having a weird gut feeling. They felt different. I'm just hoping that they weren't in any of my classes. They may not even be different but if they were, it might not be good.
"Hello? Earth to Sol?" That's my nickname- Sol. In Spanish, it means sun.
"Ya I'm here, just thought I felt somebody staring at me."
"So you decided to stare back?"
"No! I was just seeing if whoever it was would look back at me."
"Okay, I'll let you go with that. Do you wanna start heading to algebra?"
"No thank you! I like to spend as much time as I can away from that class."
"Haha! Okay then- be a pansycake!"
"Oh don't even get me started on Divergent!" I LOVE the divergent series. But Tris needs to have a good life with four! I just realized- orchestra is my 4th class and chorus is my 6th class. Coincidence? I think not. Then the bell rang and we started walking off to algebra, talking about divergent non-stop.
