Solcia POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We followed Victor down to the living room. I saw Hannah looking at a fashion magazine, Jamel reading a book, and I'm guessing Alicia was outside gardening.
"What game are we playing?" I questioned. I have never really played to much video games, but I could probably catch on quickly.
"It is a boxing game. Just watch me and Mason play." Victor said, keeping his focus on setting up the game. I sat down on the couch and looked at the time. It was 1:00 and it was Thursday. We probably wouldn't have school tomorrow. Maybe this weekend I could stop and the Lamborn's house and see how Cara and Hera are. I would probably see Gabe and maybe Willow if they were all hanging out. I doubt it though, because otherwise I would be there to.
Victor then got the game set up. He showed me what button does what and did a practice round with Mason so I could focus on the keys and stuff. I didn't tell him this, but I was most likely just going to hit random buttons and hope for the best. I then saw Jamel put down his book and answer his phone, looking kind of happy. It was probably for Mackenzie.
I started thinking about music. Why? I don't know. I got the feeling that something big was going to happen today. Something grand and happy. I felt really excited, and I don't know why. Maybe I will beat who ever wins the video game? No, it felt like something much bigger than that. It felt like it would be something so big, I just wanted to jump around and scream. Similar to the feeling when you are reading a book and can't wait for when something happens and then it comes. When it comes, you just want to scream out of happiness. But, I don't know what will happen. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait. I started singing 'Something Big' by Shawn Mendez in my head. The chorus described me very accurately right now. I heard it once on the radio and liked it. It was a good song. I was soon distracted by Victor's victory scream.
"WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! I WON!!! GET READY SOL!!" Victor screamed. Mason got up and gave me a look that said 'He is such a little kid.' I smiled and took the controller in my hand. I sat down and Victor looked at me.
"Are you ready?" He asked, a huge grin plastered on his face.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I said, returning the grin. I looked at the TV and it started counting down. When it reached 1, I started hitting a bunch of buttons on the controller. I heard Mason laugh loudly. I must look ridiculous. His laugh did sound like music though. . . Sol! Focus on the game! My brain said. I took the thought out of my head and continued to press random buttons. I looked at what I think is my health and it looked pretty good, only half way down. Victor was about the same. If his health was the same as mine, I must be doing something right! I then hit like 3-4 buttons at the same time and my character jumped and when he went down, he smashed his fists on the ground. The other character went flying up and when he went down, he lost all his hearts. The screan then put out the message 'Player 2 Wins!' I looked at Victor, and his face was priceless! He was beyond astonished. Mason must have saw it to because then he started to laugh his musical laugh again.
"How did you do that?!!" Victor turned towards me and asked, his eyes full of curiosity.
"Did it really look like I knew what I was doing?" I asked. Even I didn't know! I just pressed some buttons at the same time! I don't even know what buttons.
"Not at all. Do you at least know what buttons you hit or how many you hit?" He pleaded.
"I think I hit 3 or 4 buttons at the same time." I responded dubiously. I got up and sat next to Mason.
"Be prepared for endless rematches." He whispered, pretending to be secretive.
"I HEARD THAT!" Victor yelled. Me and Mason both laughed at that.
"Once I figure out how to do that, I will get you Sol!" Victor said, all his focus now on the game. Then Jamel came in with a huge smile on his face.
"My clients said yes and have already talked to the adoption people. Now we just have to drop Mackenzie off." He said. I was happy she going to a better family, but it would've be kind of fun to keep her here.
"I'll go get Mackenzie then." I said while getting up and smiling. Just then she ran in.
"I heard my name." She said. Now everybody was in the room and listening, prepared to say goodbye. I sat back down and waited for somebody to start. Jamel spoke up.
"Well, we can't really keep you here, so we found you a new home." He told her. Her expression was shocked.
"What about my parents?" She asked, a miserable look on her face. She was 9 or 10 so she could probably handle hearing that her parents died. I'll let Jamel be the judge of that though.
"Well, I' sorry to say this, but they are dead." Jamel said with full sympathy. Mackenzie looked even more miserable and like she was about to cry.
"So I'm up for adoption?" Was all she said, and it was full of sadness.
"Yes, and we already found you a new home. We get that you miss your parents a lot, and nobody could replace them, but the people there will take very good care of you. They always wanted to have a daughter." He said, giving her a reassuring smile. She returned the smile, but the sadness was evident her face.
"What about my stuff?" She asked. The tears still didn't spill.
"The adoption center already packed your stuff and your room is set up. If you want a different room, then your guardians will be more than happy to change it into the room you want." He said. She smiled when he said guardians- probably because she knew that he understood that nobody could replace her parents.
"So I guess it's goodbye?" She said.
"Yes, but you can visit us. Your guardians just have to call us first. I will be driving you there by myself so when you're ready, just let me know and we will drive t your new house." He said soothingly. She went up to everybody and hugged them saying goodbye. She then came to me and gave me tight hug which I gladly returned.
"Bye." She said.
"How about we say 'See you later?'" I said, smiling. She returned the smile and turned to Jamel. They then went out and drove off. Everybody went back to what they were doing for the most part. Alicia sat down and started reading her book while me and Mason watched Victor practice the video game. After about 15 minutes, Jamel came in and gave us a thumbs up, meaning everything went good.
"It would be nice to see her now." I said while putting out my hand as if a screen would come up showing me her. I didn't expect anything to, but when I put my hand out, a transparent screen-like thing the size of an IPad came out, floating in mid air, looking like it was made of air. And it showed Mackenzie at this very moment, and when she moved, we could see it. It was like looking through a camera. Everybody looked at me shocked, and I was wide-eyed as well.
