Chicago, a city I always wanted to see if I got the chance. Unfortunately that isn't going to happen today. It's been raining all day which meant Luke's concert was rescheduled for tomorrow if the weather was fine. Laying on the bed in my hotel room I laid there bored flipping through TV stations. Carter and Luke were gone trying to do mic checks for a few hours. And Chloe was off visiting her cousin who had recently moved here. She invited me to tag along but I said no thinking Luke and I would explore the city together. The rain hitting my window starts to pick up so I just rolled over to catch some sleep. I only slept for an hour because by that point it was starting to storm and get really dark. Turning on the light a loud crash of thunder went off making me scream like a kid again. Another clash of thunder went off so I dive underneath the covers hearing someone open my door. Whoever it is gently closed the door calling out my name. "Y/n, are you awake?" Luke's voice calmed me down where I peak my head out from under the covers.

He removes his muddy boots and wet coat walking over to my bedside sitting on the edge. I could hear the rain smacking against the window even harder alongside more thunder. "Are you okay. Is the storm bothering you baby?" He asked softly when I pressed my face into the pillows.

I hated for him to see me like this. A grown girl in her 20's is afraid of thunderstorms. Tate and Bo aren't afraid and they're still kids. It's ridiculous where I wait for him to laugh at me. Except that isn't what happened. No he moves the covers climbing into the bed with me. Lifting my head so it was laying in the crook of his neck with his arms wrapped around me. Tilting my head up to him I'm met with his soft eyes staring down at me. "You're not gonna laugh at me for being scared over a storm?"

He shakes his head tucking hair behind my ear right before thunder and a flash of lightning knocked out the power leaving us completely in the dark of night. "I can't leave my honey when she's in need. My mama raised me right after all on how to treat a lady." Luke's arms squeezed me closer where I buried my face against his chest whimpering like a dog in fright.

"I hate storms like this...they always scare the crap out of me!" I mumbled into his comfortable embrace. He kisses my forehead moving out of the bed rushing over to his room then back to mine carrying his guitar in his hands. Shifting in a sitting position against the pillows he climbed back in beside me starting to strum his guitar in an attempt to distract me from my fears.

Even though I could only see his face every time a flash of lightning would happen I got to see that he never stopped looking at me when he started singing one of his songs. "My daddy spent his life lookin' up at the sky. He'd cuss kick the dust, sayin' son it's way too dry. It clouds up in the city, the weather man complains. But where I come from, rain is a good thing. Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky. Back roads are boggin' up, my buddies pile up in my truck. We hunt our hunnies down, we take 'em into town. Start washin' all our worries down the drain. Rain is a good thing."

The storm rages on outside but as long as I am by his side like this I am alright. "Ain't nothin' like a kiss out back in the barn. Ringin' out our soakin' clothes, ridin' out a thunderstorm. When tin roof gets to talkin'; that's the best love we made.
Yea where I come from, rain is a good thing. Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby, feel a little frisky. Back roads are boggin' up, my buddies pile up in my truck. We hunt our hunnies down, we take 'em into town. Start washin' all our worries down the drain. Rain is a good thing." He played the cords on his guitar like second nature not taking his eyes off me for a moment. I felt myself smiling at him in this moment. Even though he could afford big gestures I didn't need them. All I needed was Luke to comfort me or make me smile. Telling me everything was gonna be alright and making me laugh.

"Farmer Johnson does a little Dance. Creeks on the rise, roll up your pants.
Country girls, they wanna cuddle. Kids out playin' in a big mud puddle. Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey. Whiskey makes my baby. Back roads are boggin' up, my buddies pile up in my truck. We hunt our hunnies down, we take 'em into town.
Start washin' all our worries down the drain. Rain is a good thing." He kept playing listening to the rain hitting against the window. Snuggling up against his chest I smiled. He finished singing the song laying his guitar on the floor gently. "Rain is a good thing, rain is a good thing, rain is a good thing."

He wrapped his arms around me once again planting kisses to my forehead. With my right hand I lazily draw patterns on his shirt falling asleep in his warmth when the storm finally starts slowly down. "Don't worry darlin'. You're country boys got you safe and sound." He whispered into my ear falling asleep in my arms peacefully. For a stormy night it wasn't so bad because I had him there to protect me through the night. Plus Chloe didn't mind that he took her place to sleep for one night. She'll just stay the night with Carter. So everyone wins tonight.

It was storming like crazy last night so this popped into my head
