I walked back inside of the room to change when there was another knock at the door. Before I opened my mouth, Jack called them in,

"Enter" I snapped my head around giving him a look as he closed the balcony window. I watched as the bedroom door opened. Entering the room were two young women dressed in pinafores with white hair that plaited to one side. They curtsied to me and looked to me waiting for an order. Jack spoke, "The Princess will require her royal garments for today and her dress robes for the banquet tonight. Prepare her for her duties this morning." He spoke with such grace and formality. He was obviously used to addressing people like a prince would. The maids curtsied and smiled as they separated to perform their individual tasks. The youngest woman came towards me, offering me her hand to follow her to the dresser. She looked a little older than me. I sat down and relaxed as she began to comb my tousled hair. In the corner of my eye I watched as Jack began to leave the room, but not before he turned on his heels to speak one last time, "Oh and as your protector. I will be escorting you and assisting with your royal duties today." He smiled, bowed his head and called the other maid out as he closed the doors behind him. I gave a growl of frustration and tried to contain my anger.

I'd been sitting at my dresser for half an hour in complete silence, as the maid began to finish styling my hair with braids, wrapping around the back of my head like a plaited Tudor bun. She gently pulled strands of hair loosely from my fringe and knelt by my side,

"What's your name?" I needed to talk to someone different. Someone new. She looked up at me and smiled,

"Amelia ma'am."

"Please, call me Alice." She was a little shocked. She had probably been told to call me 'Your highness' or 'My lady'. But I didn't want that. I just wanted a friend who I could talk to. I stood and followed her as she guided me to the wardrobe. She pulled the doors open, and entered the wardrobe. She vanished for a few seconds before appearing with a silver and blue metallic like laced dress and held it up revealing the beautiful detail embedded in it,

"Are you alright, my lady?" I was so astounded by the dress that I couldn't speak. It was the most amazing dress I had ever seen in my life.

"Yes. It's just... It's so beautiful." She smiled at me and began to tie me into the dress.

Amelia had finished and I stood looking at my reflection in the mirror. Looking at the person I was meant to be.

"The finishing touch, my lady." I turned to see Amelia holding a silver tiara. Woven beautifully with a row of 4 flowers in the centre. I bowed my head for her to place it on my head,

"You're ready." She said before stepping aside. I took one last look in the mirror and took a deep breath. This was it. This was who I was meant to be.
