you

you remind me of myself
a mirror of some sort
you and i look alike
you and i love the same people
you and i worry about the same things

but if there's one thing that sets us apart
it's the way we perceive everything
Irregardless of what life has to offer
you're the optimist i wish to be
and i'm the pessimist you wish to try

but i don't know how you think
i'm grasping straws to make my narrative fit
while you grasp straws to find ways
to care like you never do
i suppose neither of us are living the truth

and we stay together nevertheless
because i love you just the way you've always been
because you see me the way you see fit
and i hope we stay together like this
